So, I'm ordering new Brake stuff...

....and I'm trying to decide on what to get for my 02 p5. Oh, yeah, I'm getting them from the Tri-Point Brake Sale:http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123666895.

I'm not doing autocross, but I do like to find the twisties (in the country) and drive hard.

I think that I'm ordering the Axxis Deluxe Plus pads for the front. and the Posi-Quiets on the rears.

For the rotors, I'm having a tough time deciding. Are the slotted rotors are worth paying 5x the cost of the basic rotor? Sure they make the car look wicked cool, but am I really getting *that much performance out of a slotted/drilled rotor? With regard to the basic rotors, the E-coating is a non-issue for me, as I will be painting the center hub anyways.
Any thoughts/comments on these choices.

Don't waste your money on slotted or drilled rotors. Do a little research on the net and you will find that it is all bulls***. I have drilled rotors and they seem absolutely pointless to me other than looks. They make a really lame noise when you brake too. Like a giant cheese grater on the pads. Not cool.

For daily driving stick with the regular rotors. No point in paying extra for the slotted/drilled. I installed the posi-quiets in the front and rear as well as the blank rotors from Tri-point on Saturday with a little help from Bruce (a223818) at the NEPOC Spring Cleaning Meet.

Agreed on the rotors. Just get yourself a good quality blank.

I installed the Hawk HPS pads on my P5 last week. They're fantastic. No noise and great performance.

same here, did new brembo blank rotors and hawk hps pads last thursday and 1500 miles later (busy weekend) they're great!

I did alot of research and chose blanks with EBC pads. I drive alot of city driving with stop and go. I will say the pads stop way better than stock but I have never seen so much brake dust. Next time I will try hawk. good luck!

BUY FLARE NUT WRENCHES, DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH YOUR BRAKE LINE FITTINGS WITH BOX WRENCHES.

The job is easy with the right tools. If you're like me and rounded off the bolts on the stock hardlines trying to get them apart with a box wrench, it's quite a bit more difficult. I have to have two of my hardlines cut and reflared now, hoorah!

Just read up on bleeding the brakes and you should be golden.

i run grooved discs all round, with mintex pads. only got them cos my standard ones warped, and i was anti warping at that point. look ultra sick though!!

I've experienced a lot of dust with my Hawk HPS pads. They've been on only about 5K miles but the dust is significantly more then stock. Not that I really car all that much...
