So I need to change the oil on my MS6, before i've just dropped it off at the dealer since it was more conveint, but now i got the time to do it myself.

So this doesn't have a regular filter right? Is there a special tool needed to take of the cartridge? If so where do i get it? Also does autozone or whoever have the cartridges or do i have to go to a dealer to get one?

You can get a special socket to unscrew the filter housing, but I use a regular oil filter wrench and it works just fine for me.

As for the cartridge itself, this sticky has a list of the part numbers from different manufacturers. I use Fram, and both my local auto parts store and WalMart had it right on the shelf.

Pick up a gallon + 2 quarts of your preferred oil (or a case, whatever, you need 5.5-6 qts) and a filter & filter wrench of your choice. See above referenced sticky...

car on ramps or stands

remove under tray, I think there are 7 10mm bolts

loosen the oil fill cap, then remove the 17mm drain bolt from the oil pan
- drain while you check out the cartridge filter and ponder wether you should remove the filter cartridge drain screw- decide to skip that step.

REPLACE THE DRAIN BOLT. don't be that guy......

use your newly acquired oil filter wrench to remove the cartridge.

remove old cartridge and dispose accordingly

clean yourself & everything as needed with nasty old towel

replace o-ring and cartridge, then screw back on car- don't over tighten it

add 5 quarts of oil, replace fill cap & start motor for a moment-
- verify no oil spewing from under the car, then turn back off.

go drink beer, waste 10-15 minutes screwing with other stuff

finally get back to car, make sure everything underneath is still clean, no leaks

replace under tray

start car & remove from ramps to level ground & turn off engine

Check oil & add as needed, likely around 1/2 quart- do not overfill

place ramps or stands as needed to raise rear of car

verify diff mount bolts all tight.

Oh, and start thinking about your brakes... lolz...

enjoy.
