03.5 MSP
Hello all, I have been a member for quite a while now, and thought I would do I small build thread, to show my progress from day one until now. I do not have very many pictures, and I do not have any of them right now, as I am in Afghanistan.
To start off, I was always a DA Integra fan, I’ve owned 3 DA Integra’s, my first was a 92 GSR, the second was a 90 LS, and the 3rd a 93 RS parts car. I started a build on the 90 that never got finished, it was in an accident prior to me owning it and after hacking the "frame" to fix it, it became a lost hope.

So, on to the MSP.

My wife killed my 98 Ram's Trans, after deciding to drive her in "drive 2" for nearly 50 miles on the highway. The truck still worked decent but decided to stay in 2nd gear at times, 2 days later I was at the dealership looking for something new.
At first sight of the MSP I wasn’t very intrigued, it was dark, so it was difficult to get the entire picture. When I saw Mazda and Protg emblems on the back, it really set me away from the car. It was in the front of the lot, facing the road. after walking around the car I saw the front mount sitting there in the badly chipped front bumper. I actually had to walk to the back of the car to make sure it was the same one. After a test drive, and alot of research and reading that night, I was convinced it was the car for me. The next day, I was at the dealer trading the truck in, and paying the remaining balance.

After getting her home I started the investigation. She had Prosport EGT, Boost, and AFR gauges, the AFR was broken, but still sitting in the pod. under the hood was an Ingen SRI, a high boost FMIC kit with hard pipes , with the MAF already relocated, and a crapy ebay carbon stickered bov, 3" Vibrant j-pipe back exhaust, and a cracked manifold. lol. Busted motor mounts, and a few other minor flaws. As well as a set of spool springs, and Dave B rings, that I was unaware of, until my first Carolina Mazda’s meet. I have always been sketchy on buying pre modded cars from dealers, bc you never know how it was treeted before you bought it, but this car was very clean, and it looked as if the guy before me did his research on her.

Then the Mod bug set in.

First on the bill was to replace the broken AFR gauge, I had an AEM laying around still for the DA build so it she went, as well as re-wiring all the Prosports for the lights to work correctly. Next up was a full set of AWR mounts, I have done mounts before, but this was one of the longest driveway jobs i had ever done. Then the rad sprung a leak, I had a Half size Mishimoto for a Civic, in the garage, so I put that in. witch left me lots of room to re run my hot side pipe to a much shorter distance than the original Kit. I then began paint work on the front lip, I was tired of the chipped paint, so i stripped it all down, and painted it flat black. Then it was time for Auto-X to start again, at my first Carolina Mazda’s meet I picked up a boost controller, and the set of 5-Zigens that are on her now. So I got a set of Star Specs for them and went to town.

Next in line for the mods was a new manifold, I was just in time for the Thunder v3 group buy. got that put on. Soon after I did this I found that my BOV was going bad, so I purchased a Gready RS. As well as a JoeP MBC, it was finally time for 8 PSI. After a few trips to the brick wall, I had to get a SSAFC, 2 weeks later she was installed, and running great. It was then that i met Jeff from East Coast Performance in Jacksonville NC, i had talked to him a few times at the Auto-x events, but at this event i was having an issue with a bad Coil, and he was very helpful. he was very eager to get my car on the Dyno, to see what she would make. So I packed all my old Honda stuff in the trunk and headed in. At the end of the day she made 203 HP, and 217 Ft-lb, at 10 psi. I was generally happy.

about a month later I made my way down to Charlotte NC, for the 2011 NCR Auto-X championships, on my second run of the day, I spun a rod bearing, and had to have her towed the 200 miles back to Havelock. a week later I had a set of Pauter rods, Wiseco Pistons, a full gasket set, water pump, oil pump, and many other odds and ends sitting on the kitchen table.

Disassembly began.

The head was brought to East Coast for a valve job, and a mild PnP, as well as the crank for a micro polish. A week later the shop called me and told me that the crank was to far beyond usable, so the search began for a new one. After 3 wrong cranks from parts stores, I finally got my hands on the right one. A Pope Down pipe was ordered to mate to the newly built motor. As well as a set of WRX Baby Blues, for a little more fuel. After many late nights at the hobby shop, and a few late nights in the car port, she finally runs again. Waiting to unleash her power.

Unfortunately a week after i got her together i was headed for Afghan, so as of now, she sits in the carport, waiting for my return.
My future plans are a Haltech ECU, the new POPE intake, a Disco, and a paint job. being out here has opened me up to a lot of options for her, i just hope that she is ready.
