Make note. Next time we do springs we can drop them the same way we did but we should take the top mount out, seat it and intall it taht way.
Yeah, that would make more sense

that's what we did with mine wasnt it?

It took very little force on my part (I did it in my work clothes actually). I just pulled it down a little and moved it into position before lowering the car. With the car all the way up the spring has plenty of play.

I don't remember who did that side of the car, but it was me who put it back together the last time (after we realized the sway bar was tangled). It took some maneuvering to get it up there so that is probably when it happened. I accept full responsibility. Next time I will inspect everything closely before dropping the car. I can't wait to put everything back together...there are too many loose panels and tools floating around in my back seat and hatch to take twisties with spirit.

I thought we did take the top mount off. I remember loosening the three bolts on the top. Anyway, for these springs, I would say the only bolt that needs to come off the top would be the center bolt since the spring doesn't have to be compressed. Just make sure it is seated properly and the rubber grommet isn't tangled (top and bottom) before dropping the car.

Nope. I've got less than 10% left on my tires so I'm not in a rush. The car doesn't pull or anything. I am trying to get a new set of wheels and tires. If I can get them soon (within the next 3 weeks) then I will wait for the wheels to get the alignment. If its going to take longer I'll schedule an apointment next week.

so if you jack your car up, the spring will just move around...that can't be good, i think we at least had to compress mine a little to get the bolt back on

It wasn't floating around, but it didn't take much effort to move it into place. I grabbed a coil with both my hands and pulled down and the top slid right into the grommet. I could twist it around a little too. During an install, if you were trying to lift the whole assembly up there and line the strut up to the hole it would be a little more difficult I imagine.

Don't forget I've been riding around with them installed for a week. When we first installed them they weren't broken in at all so they were probably a little stiffer.
