Mobil 1 Oil filter ?

Thanks Bala I couldn't find the pn on the mobil website.

My dealer doesn't give out the small original P5 filters. If you says P5 filter they will only give you the taller 626 turbo one.

Does anyone else have the problem I do with INSANELY tight oil filters after 3k miles. My last 4-5 changes, no matter how hard I put my filter on, it is almost humanly impossible to get it off. It takes me about 45 minutes and I have to use a monkey wrench to get it off.

I had that issue twice, the biggest problem is the space where the filter is located you don't get good grip. What I do now cause last time it took me a day to get it off I turn it with my finger tips untill it get slightly tight and then turn 1/4 way with my hand. Its not tight but the oil will not leak plus I can get it off the next time.

ehh.. i just use the mazda oem, i always figured if they mass produce them to use on a production vehicle , its good enough for me.. .. i do use mobel1 synt. though.. 10w 30

do they not make high mileage oil in 5 W 30 or is it strictly 10 W 30? Cuz I was planning on switching to high mileage for 85000 miles but I dont want 10 W 30 in the winter because it has sluggish starts as it is in cold weather.

i dunno if i would trust the high milage oils, do they really work, are they good for turbo motors?

Well very generally speaking, these oils have two additives in them which are more suited to older engines. The first is normally a burnoff-inhibitor which helps prevent the oil from burning off if it gets past an engine seal into the combustion chamber. The second is a "seal conditioner", the exact makeup of which I'm not sure of, but it's designed to soak into seals such as head- and rocker-cover gaskets and force them to expand. Thus if one of the seals is a bit leaky, the seal conditioner will attempt to minimise the leak. They claim that they're designed to be used in cars with as little as 75K..but in all honesty, this seems to me as one of those "if it aint broke, don't fix it" type things. If your engine dosen't burn or leak oil(which people with 120K+ proteges don't even experience) then don't pay the extra premium.

the 15K stuff is just regular oil with less cleaning agents than the high mileage oil(but about 10% more than regular oil).

Ok... so I FINALLY got around to sending my oil in for analysis.

And the verdict is:

They told me I could go even longer!! (cabpatch)

The details:
2004 Mazda3s
AEM CAI
Mobil1 5W20 oil
Mobil1 "Extended Performance" oil filter
9,872 miles!

KANE: Universal averages show typical wear metals for oil from this type engine after 5100 miles run on the oil. Your oil was in use 9872 miles, and we found all wear reading around average levels and in the correct balance to show normal mechanical parts inside. Air and oil filtration (see silicon and insolubles) appear normal. This was 5W/20 engine oil with no fuel, moisture or anti-freeze in it. The TBN was 2.8, some active additive left. The oil could have stayed in use longer. Try 10,500 miles for the next oil change and check back to establish wear trends. Great engine!

Kick ass!! (rockon)

if you want to be sure just check the mobilone's web and put you're info there and it will suggest you the best oil filter and engine oil for you (based on you're driving and living environment)

My mech says" fully synth mobil 1 + K&N Gold filter and not the ext mobil 1" unless you have high mil. think, you have turbo so you can't have ext oil change on turbo app.
But, its your car so do what you ppl want

I use PureONE PL14610 ... the one made for Mazda 626 V6. bigger filter. works great. $7usd at PepBoys.... to compare, the Mobil1 filters are $10-12usd each.
