What types of MBC are you guys running? I'm looking at maybe a vibrant one, but cant really find any reviews on them. What works for you guys?

I don't have one on the MSP, but I run a Grimmspeed on the 240sx and I'm very happy with it.

This is my first turbo car, but from my understanding your tune is just going to adjust your fuel mapping for increased boost so you dont have zoom zoom boom, but your wastegate is still going to always open at the same pressure unless you switch the spring out or have a boost controller correct? I also have a wide band that will be going on with the boost controller and was going to see if I could run 8psi fine on the stock tun, since I have heard of people run 8 when they upgraded to a FMIC. I have a front mount set up, but did not get any increase in boost after I installed like some people. Right now the car peaks at 6.5 and holds at 6psi. I plan to pick up a SSAFC but I just haven't yet. I figured with the boost controller and wide band I can see if a higher psi will be safe or not......correct me if I am wrong

Let me tell you a little thing about manual boost controllers... They like to spike... Mine was set at 12.5psi... I've seen it spike to 15psi... I tried to compensate for a failing wastegate, and after repairing it forgot to adjust the controller, hit 16-17psi, and BOOM.

BUT, please make sure you've got your sideband installed prior to messing with the boost. I didn't turn the boost up until I had my wideband and SSAFC installed.

My question then is, how are people on here running say 10psi with a SSAFC map? Different wastegate/spring instead of a boost controller?

That'd be the only other way.

I will agree that the grimmspeed does have a little spike, especially in 1st and 2nd, but never more than a couple of psi. I can also say that I've built ball and spring boost controllers in the past, and if you can get a spring that's very close to the boost you want to run, it really cuts the spike down. I could easily throw the grimmspeed on the MSP and see how it does if you're interested.

^^ do you have the lighter spring? mine did a first, but i got the lighter spring for it from Joe, and i haven't had a problem since.

I also have a JoeP MBC and it hasn't spiked on me and that's according to the datalogs on the SSAFC, not looking at my boost gauge.

So you guys are saying go with the JoeP with a lighter spring?... What do these normally run price wise (ballpark)?
