Due to some circumstances (bad motor mounts, weak clutch, rust) the normal methods of loosening the crank pulley aren't working. I need to get the SST tool to hold the crankshaft pulley on my P5 while undoing the crankshaft pulley bolt.

However, I can't find a place to get the tool. The dealership doesn't have a listing.

This thing looks like a bunch of sheet metal parts with holes. Does anyone have this tool they'd like to sell, or could you trace around the parts of the tool and take a few dimensions so I could make one?

thanks,

sean

Well, the dealership finally found it, but a new one is $100 and several weeks for what amounts to some sheet metal pieces. If anyone has a drawing for a homemade version, or a similar tool they've come up with, please let me know. I'd love to reverse-engineer the factory tool if possible, as I have the handle tool that the sst attaches to.

Don't waste your money at the dealership, I don't think anyone around here has ever bought one of those tools. Here's the one I made, the bar was long enough that when installed it stuck out past the front bumper. That way a helper simply had to stand on it while I used a breaker bar with a huge cheater pipe (1m) to break the bolt free.

I have a one-piece homemade one that came with the Unorthodox UDP I bought from someone here. Basically a fork with 2 holes in it to bolt to face of oem pulley and a long handle that hits the center of another pulley to lock against to break the crank bolt free. I haven't touched it in years but can probably find it in the box with the oem pulley in the garage. I can take pics and take measurements for you and PM you back. May be tommorrow before getting pics back to you.....If you have a fon that will receive pic msgs that'd speed things up. PM number if so.
