Latest Re-Flash

Has anyone heard of this latest flash and when it was released? And maybe what it does?

Part No. L33P-18881-T, File Name SW-L33PET000

what's it do? I was just at the dealer 3 weeks ago and they didn't reflash me that time. Usually if there is a reflash, they'll do it when the car is there for an oil change.

Latest Re flash

I had been asking the dealer for the last 3 months to see about a flash update that would fix my overheating issue. It's because things pointed to too high Exhaust gas Temp, why, ?, but timing seemed to far advanced, fuel seemed to lean, shift pattern was different than before as it stayed in high gears to much.
So I asked dealer to re flash just because and I would pay for it, and guess what.....they found there WAS a newer update!(hand)

Took that act to get them to LOOK for a updated flash.

Latest Re Flash

So nobody knows anything about this flash? It's newer than 2/08 and its now in my car. Do you have yours?

Latest Re Flash

I did, in the first post. These are the only numbers the Dealer has as it is NOT a tsb reflash.

Part No. L33P-18881-T, File Name SW-L33PET000

So take it from there.

Thank you offset 98

Thank you,

I Now know the fix to my overheat problem.

Cause-Lean condition due to fuel pump/flash (to change voltage), caused high EGT's, made turbo get excessively hot, heat soak to block caused overheating.

Hope-this excessive overheating of turbo hasn't damaged it! I do everything I can to make it last the longest possible-change oil, use synthetic, and have a turbo timer. Would really hate to see all that preventive maintenance be for not!

Last month I was talking to a shop that did custom performance flash's for Mazda's. After describing my problem and asking if he could help, he said it sounds more like a lean condition caused by fuel pump pressure to low! He must have known of this bulletin. It's truly amazing the Mazda dealers(s) can't be intuitive enough to bother checking or even lift a finger to try and fix an obvious heat problem. And the fix has been there since April 08!

NOTE: For those vehicles built before April 7, 2007, replace the fuel pump with a updated pump. If the pump was built after March 26, 2007, the pump should not be replaced. Please refer to Parts Information below.

New Old Part name Qty
L3K9-13-35ZC L3K9-13-35ZB Fuel Pump 1
Note: The old part number (35ZB) may be used if it was produced after April 7, 2007.

High Pressure fuel pump identification information:
The production date of the high-pressure fuel pump is laser etched onto the pipe that the high-pressure fuel pipe threads onto.

The production date is marked as a 4 digit code "YMDD on the pipe.
Y for Year: 7 for 2007
M for month: 9 for September, X for October, Y for November,
Z for December
DD for Date: 07 for the 7th day of the month.

Example: "4Z16" means December 16,2004.
"7608" means June 8, 2007.

Fuel Pump tsb

I got the new fuel pump installed and the reflash per the tsb.

Under normal (non towing) driving, the car runs one whole mark lower on the temp gauge. So, less lean condition, lower exhaust gas temp, equals lower operating temp.

We shall see under towing at later date.

(cool)

Thanks. My pump is being replaced tomorrow. Darn-pump back ordered
