Which intake system is better for my msp a Injen CAI or a AEM Short Ram Intake and Which of those would give my more horsepower. I need help to make the rigth decision.
if you have a speed, you're looking at the wrong thing. aem only makes a short ram for the regular proteges. injen and now spool are the only ones who make an aftermarket intake system. you can jerry rig your stock piping to make it a short ram like the aem, but then you run into the problem of heat soak. all of this information is in the mazdaspeed section as well as the performance section of this forum. have a look around, there's a wealth of information on here.
I've always understood that running a short ram is better for a turbo because you already have an intercooler which cools the intake charge. Once your car is rolling, there is air movement thru the engine bay. You never see CAIs on RX7 turbos, Supras, Buick Grand Nationals, DSM, or even the turbo Maximas.
true, you never see cais on most turbo cars. but most have huge fmics to account for it. i have seen a few turbo cars with a cai however. the injen is awesome, well worth the 219 i paid for it. but if you wanna go sri, i think it was insidious that had one on his car. run a search and i'm sure you'll find his post.
