I knew they were called stealerships, but wow... just wow.

Good to hear you found a good one Sean. It's really all about the dealership... when you find a good one you have to stick with it because they are hard to find.

Glad you are lovin your 6, and good job for Brandywine Mazda.....Everyone blames the car, and it's not the car.....it's the people

****! people are real douchebags! ******* A! I cant beleive it. Dude Sean! Im glad you had a hunch and didnt let them do s***. Same thing here with my Nissan Maxima...I took it to Acme Nissan in North Brunswick, NJ for oil change, and they tell me that my front brake pads are low, when I changed my brake pads like a month before going to dealer. So I just told them dont bull s*** me, and never went back. May I say that I got really really loud there accusing them of misinforming me and their mechanics are complete assholes

LOL I bought my 94 Sentra there. I decided to get an oil change for it there last year, scheduled an appointment at 7:30 AM to wait for the damn thing. It took them 3 hours to do it...plus they tried to pull some BS "your brakes need servicing now, it's not safe to drive with them in their current condition". Needless to say I drove another 10000+ miles before they needed any type of work. @$$holes...

I'm just gonna call mazda north america.. see what they have to say.. but honestly, its not worth paying the legal fees and whatnot.. I found out what I suspected all along and saved the money.. I just won't go back there again, free oil changes or not.

they wont do jack s***, i've reported reynolds mazda here in okc on many occasions and never here s*** form them

You guys think that story is bad check out these problems my dad had with the mechanic he used to bring his 97 suburban to.

the begining:
after an oil change one mechanic doesnt fasten down the main power cable from the battery that runs across the front of the engine compartment. 2 Days later we pop the hood and see that the wire is melted halfway through. We take it back and tell them to replace it and all they do is an ugly patch job.

it gets worse:
They install new brakes for us after which we have continual problems with wheel vibration at highway speeds. for months we keep bringing it back and they charge us for small replacement of what they THINK the problem is. After like a year of this crap my dad takes it to the dealer and they pop the whole wheel assembly on the balancer to figure out the new rotors were out of round and replacing them instantly solved the problem (after spending a lot of money that didnt need to be spent at the mechanics)

the last straw:
They replace the fuel pump on their recommendation. After this we notice the fuel is leaking so we bring it back to get it re-fixed. After this the car has random stalls or wont start (luckily never while we were on the road) so we take it back to them and they say they couldnt reproduce the problem but they charge us 90$. While the car was there one of their customers tags the bumper so now the bumper needs to be replaced (we got the guys contact info and his insurance paid for it but annoying!) After they try to tell us nothing is wrong we take it to the dealership again. The guy calls my mom at work and tells her flat out that this is the worst fuel pump install he has ever seen in his life. tabs were bent out of shape and their attempt at fixing the leak (he said it was still leaking) was to throw some extra sealant glop at it. he said that all the mechanics in the show were just sitting there staring at it. my mom asks if they were laughing, he said "this is definitelly not funny". They took pictures of it and documented everything for us before re-re-fixing it. Oh and by the way, the extended warrenty refused to cover the cost since the pump had just been replaced a few weeks before. Anyways, we bring the 900$ bill to the mechanic and show him the pics and say you owe us big time.

If it were up to me it would have been all over the 2 local newspapers in the neighborhood so that everyone would know not to go to these guys. the mechanic tried to say it was a rookie mistake for one of his mechanics, i say that rookie shouldnt be allowed near any tools without adult supervision. I mean, come on people, fuel tanks are full of fuel (42 gallon tank on that sucker) and pumps are electric, as far as im concered we are lucky we didnt explode!

ok thats my rant. atleast with your problem you were only out 70 bones, we've blown way too much on bad repair jobs at that place. I wont even buy gas there anymore.

Here comes the bombshell:
They said that they fixed the clips on my wheel wells, and then looked at the cracked shield. It has several impact marks on it from what appears to be a hammer. They think it was cracked by hand. They tell me that with overnighting the parts and labor costs, the total repair will be $70. A mere $530 short of Kennedy's estimate.

Your tale of woe is certainly unfortunate - I wouldn't wish it on anyone, and makes me even happier that I have a good dealership and outside mechanic taht I can trust - but what's really disconcerting it that it looks like they may have intentionally damaged your vehicle in order to get more money out of you. You have the other dealership backing you up it sounds like - I'd almost consider going to the cops and filing charges...

In the words of Meatwad, "ssshhhhiiiiiiii"

That sucks glad you found the problem. Most dealerships know that service is where they make their money. There's two ways to make that money - cheat the customer or good customer relations. It's unfortunate you found the former, but always remember the value of the "second opinion" :)

damn sean that sucks....i definately wouldve gone nuts in the dealership, the one i took my car to here in DE is notorious for ripping people off so when i had my car in there for accident repairs i insisted on being in the garage with them while they analyzed the problem (to avoid the hammer weilding idiot mechanics from going buck-wild on random car parts...)

thats not the worst story tho, my sisters bimmer 525i needed a new fuel pump once and rather then going to the local mechanic, we took it to the dealer (Daniels BMW in allentown PA) and apparently since its a 1992 not a brand new car they assigned a rookie mechanic to it and somehow managed to apply a small vaccuum to the gas tank..well needless to say when the tank got down to about half, there was just enough pressure for the tank to IMPLODE on itself, causing all kinds of problems besides just making the car undrivable...so yeah, BMW owners, add daniels BMW to the list of crappy places to get ur car fixed

ha so yeah theres my rant too, glad to hear youre keeping the 6...

Make sure you always file a complaint with the BBB so they can build up a bad rating over time. Some people check up on companies, I know I do.

Sean..
i'm glad you are happy again with your car!! and that everything is working out! :)

I thought it was funny that they said you needed an alignment because of feathered tread wear. That's BS, that just means your struts are out or you need to rotate. The Mazda place here did an ok job on mine. I told the service writer before I dropped it off that I was going to double check ever thing they do. Good thing to, they had to replace 2 lugs and add some trani fluid. But they did fix everything with out bitching. So I'd give them a 7.5 out of 10

You should've just shot 'em, Sean. Seriously.

But at least you found an honest dealership .. I've been doin' well with Faulkner, except for this last time. And I think the last time was due to a fact that I was dealin' with some new guy.

I went in to drop my car off to be inspected, and was told that I needed 'major' brake work by this new dude that I'd never seen before. He said I needed new rotors and new brake pads all around, over $600. My brakes had never been TOUCHED before this, so I asked the guy how thick my rotors have t'be to pass inspection. Know what I mean? In PA at least, your rotors have to be a certain thickness to pass inspection. I asked for that measurement. And the guy just kept saying, "You need new rotors, you need new rotors, you need new rotors." He was talkin' like I didn't even know what I was asking, totally disregarding ANY question I had, like I was some dumb blonde chick that was just makin' s*** up. Bad idea. I wound up flipping out in the middle of the service center, snatched my keys back from the dude, and told him that Scott (the service manager) could count on a lost customer cause of his ******* rudeness. I haven't been back since.

I wound up takin' my car to a mechanic's shop that my family's known for years. My brake pads were replaced and my rotors resurfaced, and my car was inspected as well. $200 bill .. TOTAL, with the inspection.

Then again, this kinda stuff happens to me relatively often. Because I do fit the bill of the stupid blonde chick -- and unless you know me personally, I look like a total sucker, heh.

Still, Sean. You should've shot 'em.
