Just figured out this morning that you can adjust your speaker sizes for both the mids and the sub in the stereo. It sounds AWESOME. Factory setting just said off, then set it to 6*6x9 for "speaker" and "woofer" to 8 inch

I've played with the speaker setting a long time ago and from what i remember i didn't find much of a differences. Why would set it to 6*6x9 when we don't have 6 x 9's in our car? Regardless, does it help in the sound? I'll try it later today.

We should have 6x9s in the front and 6" or 6.5" in the back, I don't remember which.

In one of the other threads that was referred to, gain is mentioned. If you turn down the gain on the amp and turn up the NF level you will get stronger bass with less distortion.

Hey, what do you know? I typed something that was already mentioned on another thread and my fingers didn't fall off. I guess repeating something isn't lethal.

Ok I can't stand it i have to enlighten :D.

The 6"-6x9" setting in the kenwood is the same setting. Yes you have 6" speakers in the back. The headunit doesn't care.
Also the speaker size settings only impact the system q selection, ie Pop/Rock/Jazz setting. Set it to user and then the bass Q and everything else come into play. Set to flat and thats what you get.

Setting to User Memory and playing from there would be my tachtic.

The speakers settings just changes the HPF and LPF settings in terms of what frequencies they start rolling off and that's all I think.
Try it, change the HPF and LPF frequencies to something ridiculous, then change the speakers settings and you see what happens to the HPF and LPF settings.

The speaker setting only effects the system if you are in a preset sound aka System Q mode. If you are in User Memory or Flat the speaker size setting does nothing, or atleast should do nothing.
Read page 10-12 of the manual and pay particular attention to the lines in small letters under each section.

I have been using the "user preset" ever since I got the car. Selecting the speaker size did change the frequencies a little, but for the better.
