How to completely disable cylinder deactivation?

I drove a '14 Sport, before driving a '17 Touring, then a '20 Touring. 9 years of NA 2.5 driving. The '20 had CD. I did not suddenly notice any difference vs the prior non-CD motors. I traded that '20 Touring for a '23 Turbo. There was no delayed response on the NA/CD motor compared to the turbo. What you'll notice, if anyone is curious, is smoother power delivery, a quieter engine, and a huge increase in torque that lets you accelerate without downshifting.

But both versions have neutral idle control and all the other Skyactiv transmission quirks and jerks.

I am not able to pull up a view of when its on or off like you can with the Gen 2. But there are those here who watched it engage and disengage on the screen and felt it to some degree. It seems that not everyone can detect it, bit some can. I dont think it was meant to be detectable though.

The lugging engine or delayed response is noticeable but I don't attribute it to CD. I doubt there is anything perceptible about CD turning on or off, because it takes what, 1 cycle of the engine?
When I test drove a turbo and non-turbo back to back, they largely drove the same, moments of delayed response, etc. Blaming CD is eager misattribution imo.
Your opinion is valid but it's subjective-we all drive differently
i drive 8,6 and 4 cylinder cars,trucks,vans-my beef with this is it is not needed in a 4 cylinder engine period ....full stop
i could have gone chevy trailblazer with a 3 cylinder turbocharged engine-crazy
i have driven 2024 cx-5 n/a and the difference in pickup is there-is it tune...maybe...but again 14 cents per 0.1mpg is the reason it's there, would love if Mazda stepped up and gave us the cheat sheet to bypass
