anyone upgrade their headunit?

I have a kenwood KDC-x969 from my ES just lying around. wondering if i should just leave the stock headunit in or put this one in. its an excelon, i know the msp on isnt and the preout is 5.0v versus the 4.5 in the msp. so is it better? should i put it in?

The 969 certainly is considered a better unit. For the crossovers alone I would use it. SQ will not change much.

i would ask in audio but this mainly applies to msp owners due to the fact that they have the same radio. does the msp have crossovers in it anyway?

The knewood in the MSp is common though especialy as we have several guys there that sold and installed both units.
The average MSp owner has no clue what a kenwood KDC-X969 is. You wil find the audio guys more familiar with the products in general. I am not saying it should not have been posted here, just that you will likely recieve more experienced answers elsewhere.

Yes you have crossover in the stock MSP deck, the 969 has a far more flexible setup though. It really just depends onif you need the features the 969 has or not. Although I hope you are semi familar with the deck as it costs over $400 brand new.

Hey,

I replaced my deck with the Kenwood KDC-X969. It kicks ass. As far as crossovers and what you can do with the sound, along with useability it's much better then stock. The soft buttons, make navigating the Kenwood menu system much easier.

I say go for it.

sorry...... i say spend the money and get a dvd screen and player.... just my opinion...i will never go back to a normal deck!!!!!!!!!!
