these are the actual cars we are looking at for my wife. her demands are 4 door, good amount of power and Autotragic (luckily they all come with the triptronic tranny) We are looking at the S40 with the turbo 5 cylnder in it for her.

My Friend; and you are my friend; so far; the only Mustangs that Carroll Shelby has had anything to do with were the Shelby Mustangs (GT350 & GT500). Ford has rights to the name - Cobra. It matters not what the bumper says. It's 'really' just an SVT. Ford can call it what they like. Aficianados know the truth. And make no mistake; I know Cobras.

Now, hmmmmm, one car? Let me think on this. Probably STI, and use the extra money to get rid of the wing, get something better, and some better wheels and stuff. Although that TL above is nice, and there are a lot of other cars for that much money......hmmm.....not sure.

Well; it was unique. The base model had a VW motor. The 914-6 had the 912 flat 6 motor.

Here is the 916 (11 were made). This is Peter Gregg's personal car. He was a very successful Porsche driver in the 70s. He later commited suicide. He suffered eye problems after a road accident in France. He was nicknamed 'Peter Perfect'. As a result of the impaired vision (apparently double vision resulted), he killed himself.

The Porsche 916 never made it to production. 11 models were produced in 1971 and 1972, and all were considered "preproduction." The car is based on a 914 body. Flared fenders were added, as were 15x7" wheels. The 916 had a steel roof, instead of a targa top, for added rigidity. It had fiberglass bumper panels, that were car-color. Underneath was the 911S's 6 cylinder, 190 hp engine (210 hp in 1972), giving the 916 a top speed of 233 kph.

Stiffer springs, pressurized competition shocks, front and rear swaybars, and 4 wheel vented discs added to the package. Weighing 165 lbs less than the 911S, the 916 became the quickest accelerating Porsche yet, going from 0-60 in well under 7 seconds.

Only one 916 was shipped to the US. It was destined for Brumos in Florida, where the climate was so hot that A/C had to be special ordered on the 916. That car was the only one to leave the factory with the A/C option.
