Yet another engine mount failure

that should make EVERYONE one worry, because what they did with the recall should be what was done with the newer ones....

did the bold back out or break this time?

I got the recall work done as soon as the recall was made public.

For mine, the service manager said the bolt broke.

Ummm....are you sure that it is a Ford design? I would have sworn it was the other way around. I know Ford is using these engines also as Duratecs beginning in '04. Ah here we go found something on it:

"I actullay worked on this program and it started in 1997 and was known as the New I4 engine. It was iniated by Ford to replace all the 4 cylinder gas engines in Ford Europe, Ford US, Mazda and later Volvo. The base engine design was contracted to Mazda with calibration and installation work done at Dunton, Cologne and Dearborn whilst the engines are manufactured in Japan, Mexico, USA and Spain ( a huge amount of travelling and video conferencing was involved). Each location / territory had their unique calbration and in the case of Mazda, as has been previously mentioned, variable valve timing, with the 2.0L MX5 having approx 10% more power and torque than the engine in the Focus. As time has progressed I'm not certain how much commonality has been retained, although this will be constrained to an extent by Manufacturing feasibility in handling the complexity of different variants. The 2.3L Duratec was produced in the USA and Japan only, any Ford of Europe products using this engine would be supplied by the engine plant in the USA (Dearborn), I could go on but to prevent boredom, here endeth the lesson."

Don't fret about Ford: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/18/ford-sells-20-of-its-stake-in-mazda/

If Ford doesn't pull out of their current situation this might be a trend that will continue.

Ever since Ford came into the picture, Mazda has going down the drain...
The MZR engine, is a Ford design... (bang)

Hey Nutari, what year is your car, and why did you do the recall now?
I thought the tranny mount recall was for 2007 only; they supposedly fixed the issue on the later model years.

so the bracket that holds the mount to the transmission case broke? becuz it seems to be half and half....some say the bolt back itself out...then some say the bracket breaks

I've been calling mazda on daily basis LOL.......Just to b**** them out, i give them my vin and start telling them how i feel about what they are doing. You should do the same

**** EM

I had the recall done when it first camee out and then had to go back a 2nd time for some clanking noise and it turned out the bolt mount got loose again. I feel for you bro. Did you have a tranny mount such as trz or awr when this happened?

nope

I thought the recall was for the engine mount BOLT, not the mount itself. What years does that apply to, 2007 only? I have a 2008 and was wondering if this was something that was fixed on the newer models. Yours looks like a whole mount all together as opposed to just a bolt breaking

My engine fell back in March of this year, after the recall work was done as well. I didn't have as much damage as you 'cause mine broke when i was going about 5mph. My dealer tried to blame my aftermarket rear engine mount for the failure but they fixed it without too much of a hassle. As soon as I can I will get better side mounts.

you didnt brake the bolt the bracket broke. Thats the fate of anyone once the recall is done the next weakest link fails which is the powder garbage bracket. You'll be lucky if they don't send a rep and try and say its abuse.
