Yes there will be fix with the Resuming Playback Issue on the CX5 Rdio

You have to be a naive fool to think the playback issue is going to be fixed. It isn't. The end. The electronics in these vehicles are junk. Cheap junk. If you care about the electronics, and by care about I mean use other than listening to AM/FM radio, then this isn't the vehicle for you and Mazda is not the brand for you.

When Mazda says they are working on a "fix: I believe it relly means this will be for the new models meaning an entirely different head unit and not a fix for existing models. I hope I'm wrong but I get that feeling they can't fix the issue without replacing the entire head unit and I just can't see Mazda doing that.

I agree with Kobak8, end of that part. However I still think the Mazda CX5 is an excellent drivers car, if I had done my research better I would not have upgraded to TomTom. I would have saved that money and put in a good head unit for around 900 to 1100 bucks. Oh well, next time.... maybe... :-)

Why does everyone keep blaming the tomtom HU? There is a playback issue with the ipod and it is annoying. SO WHAT? If that is the main issue of why you dislike/wont purchase this vehicle then that's pretty dumb IMO. If you nit pick this one tiny issue about our cars, I'd hate to be at your home and see what other crap you complain about. For the record, I don't like it either but it's not going to dissuade me from telling people how much I love the vehicle.
Aelaan....I have researched MANY aftermarket HU before I bought my 5. I used to have a mazda3 and wanted to put an aftermarket GPS HU in it. I had a friggen headache when I was done with my research. EVERY SINGLE UNIT had problems and defects, i.e. didn't load fast enough, wouldn't reroute quick enough, would freeze, needed updates from the manufacture, would reset, etc. I personally believe the HU in our cars is pretty damn good. It isn't the best but it does seem like Mazda put a decent amount of time into R&D for it and put together an ok product. Trust me, it could be worse. A lot worse.

Meh!! I disagree. I think a vehicle's sound system is very important and an issue such as this warrants bitching, complaining, and give cause to look at another vehicle. If I had known about this issue before buying (my bad for not finding this forum until after I purchased), I would have taken a closer look at the Toyota or Subaru. As it is, I don't believe Mazda has any intention of "fixing" the 2014 or 2015 models...which is really a shame (and a bit of a black eye). As it sits, I fully intend on ripping the entire system out and go after market.

I agree and disagree.

Car manufacturers have never been know to fit audio equipment of descent quality. That's why there is such a huge after market out there.

If anyone buys this car for its radio is nuts.

If you take your music quality seriously, play cd's. There is no compression like mp3, and resume play works perfectly.

Resume play works fine on other vehicles. No reason why it shouldn't work fine with Mazda and the fact that it doesn't it is a black eye for them (imo). For me, this issue is not about the quality of the audio equipment....is about it working properly (there is a difference).

Posting this while waiting for my oil change at mazda. I was told today that that a fix is expected in July and sometimes it may roll out early... I am not taking it for granted, any way my dealer acknowledged there is an issue.

To be honest, I'm not holding my breath here. And, if a fix does happen to come about...will it simply be for new models from the factory or will it be a recall for previously purchased 2014/2015 models??

What the dealer told me is that i will get a call or a letter for the update. So I assume it may for the units already sold.( if it ever comes out...!!!)

If the issue is not resolved by the end of this year, I fully intend on ripping the entire system out replacing it proper.

Really, nit pick!? . You pay over 30gs for one of these cars and you can`t even have the head unit work properly? Last time I looked it was 2014 and you would think in this day that they could have head units work properly. I don`t think this is too much to ask for. At least with aftermarket head units you can at least return them if you have problems or you are not satisfied. The really galling part of this problem is Mazda thinks that this is how the ipod connection is supposed to work! Trust me, if my wife new about that issue we would have bought something else. She loves her ipod. Surely you can purchase a vehicle that the sound system works sensibly. Mazda is far from the only choice in town.

What about the HU doesn't "work properly"? Does it not play music, are the buttons broken, does the screen not work? Working properly is not a relative term. The unit works, just not to your liking.
Like your wife, I live and die by my ipod. I think it's one of the best inventions ever. I LOVE music. It's one of the reasons I tolerate driving in Jersey haha.
My point is, it is NOT a bad HU. The playback and loading issue are annoying, I agree. I have been in other vehicles where these are non-issues.
My opinion stands, EVERY CAR/SUV/TRUCK has it's issues. You have to learn what you can and can't deal with. This issue is not a deal breaker for me.

Just came back from my 20K service (2014 model).

I specifically raised this issue and this is their response:

The USB port does not provide power to the USB device (another reason why USB devices like iphone can not be charged via the port) and as such the memory (song list) is not retained.

They said this is not a software issue but a hardware feature and will not be resolved as this is the design.

I wish Mazda would make up it's mind on this issue...once and for all. When they tell people that they admit this is an error...they're working on it...for months on end.....it gives people false hope. Either fix the damn thing...or admit they ****** up but aren't going to do anything about it.
