XM Question...

Recently, I had XM Radio installed in my car at Best Buy. They installed a receiver and an antenna (I already have the HU). I am oh so tired of XM radio and really don't want to pay 10 bucks a month for something I don't use. Do I need to pay to get someone to uninstall the Receiver and Antenna or could I do it by myself? I tried the other day but I couldn't find the receiver. Anyone have a clue where they could have put it? Thanks a lot!

The reciever is likely in the dash, just fallow the antenna.

Just have Best Buy remove it they do free removal of any equipment they install, all the major chains do.

It isn't like I have a problem with it, it just got really old. And we have an FM radio station for all that type of music. I always listen to CD's so I just never listen to the XM, shouldn't really pay for something you don't use.

Where did they mount the user interface? Which XM receiver did you have? Are you selling it?

I'm getting one for christmas, and just wondering if you can beat the price I can get.

Yes, I am selling it and the antenna. The tuner is the Pioneer GEX-P910XM and the antenna is a XM3 roof mount. It looks great on my sedan, will look great on any car, very discreet. I also have a Pioneer 6500 that is going to be for sale (Dash kit and wiring harness will be included). I bought it from Crutchfield and now it has some gross film that I can't get off, so I need to have that fixed under warranty. But all of this will be for sale. I'll sell the tuner and the antenna for 125 shipped.

Well, anyone can get the Ski-Fi at Best Buy for $129 w/kit after $30 mail-in rebate. So maybe go a little lower or include shipping or throw in a Snoop CD or something

Shipping is included with 125 and you don't have some bulky giant silver thing on your dash. However, you would need an XM ready HU.

That would be awesome! However, make sure you like it first. I didn't really like it because I don't like stand up comedy, I dont like family talk, I hate right wing political shows, I don't really like rap or the Top 20, and the Decades don't interest me. That leaves around 2 to 3 mediocre stations. It is a plus if you like talk shows, PLENTY of them, the weather station proved useful numerous times, the Kid's stations wer loved by my neices, but I never used it unless someone else was in the car that didn't like my CD's.

Typicly you can get the antenna and tuner installed for under $200. I will have to check th egoing promotions.

We have it at work, so I know about the selection. I'm sick of most of my CDs, and I can never find decent stations on road trips.

Then it was made for you. I like XM over Sirius for many reasons. Number one, because I don't like clutter, and I want a HU that's ready for my satelite radio of choice, and it just so happens that Alpine and Pioneer, my two favorite HU companies have XM, so there you have it. Also, I like that XM plays a lot of underground, never heard of type stuff. If I were into talk radio, it would be heaven.

Anyone ever mounted anything up there? (above the sunroof controls)

I'm wondering if there's anything behind that molded piece of headliner that will get in the way of a slightly internal mounting (maybe 1/2" deep) and if there's anything to mount to . . . (can be screwed or glued)

best buy wont take the xm out for free they will charge you the same price they charged u to put it in.
