XelderX's BG FSP Build

Nice work so far!
Do you still have that 15x10 Diamond Racing wheel?
I might need to make a drive to NC to see if it'll clear my JIC's before I make an order for a set.

I can ship it to you if you want to play with it. I need to take the tire off of it though. I can tell you that the widest part of the 275-15 Hoosier tire is right at the bead and it sticks out 1/4" from the rim so you can add that.

Sounds good.
It'll be another month or so before I'll have the chassis at my house with the front + rear sub-frames in place.
I'll get back to you when the time comes.
Thanks!

The checklist is nearly complete and ready to be exchanged for the testing clipboard. I recieved the 90 degree elbow I needed to get the intake going in the right direction. The ECU is mounted in the car and previous connectivity problems have been resolved. The next hurdle is a problem with the ECU and the stock coils. We are working on that and I'll be discussing it further in my Megasquirt thread. Everything else appears to be jiving. It looks like Jas00x's car will be the one we are driving at Nationals.

The new front wheels arrived while I was out in Kansas (not driving very well).

I also got the ECU mounted just before I left, but I didn't get a picture until today.

I'll have to grind a little on the threaded collar of the front struts to get the tire to clear, but that was expected. I wanted the tires to sit as close to the strut as possible so now I can just grind away the unneeded part of the threaded collar that the tire is rubbing on.

Coincidentally, I just called spinwerkes directly from their temporary website this morning ( http://www.spinwerkes.com/ ).

I wonder if it's cheaper to go through them directly or through racerparts wholesale? FWIW, the lady quoted me around 220ish for 13x10's.

I actually got the car to run this afternoon. There is still a lot (a whole lot) of adjusting to be done in the Megasquirt, but it was a great relief to hear the exhaust note for the first time. My goal for tomorrow is to figure out the IAC control and get the car to start and idle without having to nurse the throttle.

I started fitting the front wheels on the car and I ended up having to order some small spacers. I thought I could grind away enough of the threaded collar where the tire was rubbing, but the fit is tighter than expected. I got 1/8" spacers and I'm hoping that will pull the tires off the struts just enough to not rub.

Sounds like good news!
In the Microtech instructions, it says something about the TPS working backwards- that you may have two of the wires reversed. I don't have the instructions in front of me, but that may be your issue. Getting the TPS calibrated is the number one priority since it effects everything. Don't mess with anything until you have your TPS working properly.

I switched the wiring around this afternoon until I got what looks to be correct values. It's a 3 wire TPS so I just kept switching the wires around until it started acting right.

Are you planning on beefing up (replace or cryo-treat) the transmission gears?
The only thing that's holding me back from buying a set of 15x10's now is the fact that I don't have a set of aftermarket gears.

I don't think it will be needed even if it were legal. I've never had to launch the car on a surface that gave enough grip for it to put too much stress on the tranny.

That's what kind of concerns me as well. The boost makes lots of torque down low :(
