x-plan

Did anyone purchase their Mazda under the X-Plan, S-Plan, or the L-Plan (employee and vendor plans)? I did and today I get this letter from a local Ford dealership(not where I bought it) saying that I can:

Lower your monthly payment
trade in your vehicle without penalties
finance with no money down and 0% apr
purchase a new vehicle for $5000 off msrp

I'm thinking there is a remote possiblity of trading my ES in for a MSP. But in reality it's probably just for Fords.

Any thoughts?

That flyer you got from the dealership is just sales BS, has nothing to do with X-plan purchases. I worked briefly in car sales, hated it, it sucks, but I learned a lot...

You can trade in your car without penalties: As if there are normally penalties associated with trading in cars?? You can trade cars in all day, no penalties assigned... they give u what the car is worth in black book value. If u owe less, great, if u owe more, then u gotta pay out the difference.

Lower your monthly payment: Sure, anyone can do that, just buy a cheaper car, or put more money down, or get a better interest rate. This is aimed at the guy who bought a Ford Escort for full boat sticker at 16% interest 4 years ago, and is paying $500 a month. That guy can go in and they will get him a new Focus for the low low price of $400 a month... guess what.. he lowered his payment.

Finance with 0% interest and no money down: Sure, if you have good enough credit, u can this. If your credit sucks, u cant... no magic here.

Purchase a new vehicle for $5000 less than MSRP: Ever been to a Ford dealership? Ever seen the sticker price of Eddie Bauer Explorers?? There is EASILY $5k in markup in there... but if you think this means you can go in and subtract $5000 off the price of a $14,000 Focus, then u will probably be fooled into believing all the other crap from car dealerships!

This is the kind of stuff that the salesmen and managers laugh at behind the customers backs.

I pretty much thought all along that it was complete BS. The reason I posted what I did was because the junkmail had my S-Plan PIN number on the ad, and had "this offer is only available to S,X,& L Plan" members, etc on it. I was hopin that the "no penalties" trade in applied to recently purchased vehicles, but, alas, I am dreaming.

I hear ya, they market agressively, but there is just no good way around the economics of new car buying. Some dude posted recently that MSP's were being advertised for $15,900 or so. I could see that being possible at the right dealership that has a big surplus. My dealership (Arlington Mazda) still had some '03 leftovers mixed in with a BUNCH of '03.5's. I bet you could get a sweet deal on one... not sure if $16k is dreaming or BS, or real inventory-clearing pricing, but if you want one, now is probably the time to try with the new Mazda3 coming out. I wanted an MSP, but at $20k, or even $18k, I just didnt want that high a payment. But for $16k, yeah, I would have gone for it.
