I never really followed the cartoon or comic when I was younger but I really loved both movies. Could someone fully explain what exactly the Phoenix is for me?

Well as far as I can recall (it's been a really long time) but when the pheonix first entered the body of Jean, there was a fight for the body basically. She was passed out most of the time, except when in dire need of help the the pheonix came out and wiped all the bad guys out. And I don't remember seeing the last couple show of it (it was like a 10 episode series) so I don't know what eventually came about.

Awesome movie, but dissapointing compared to the book release. The major difference being that Jean doesn't dissapear, but instead gets her "phoenix" powers during the fight with scott, is blinded in the effort, and uses her powers to fix the jet and get it off the ground. Also, during the kill everyone scenes, the book has the real gambit and beast cameos, where they start as normal and the professor's attack activates their mutant sides, mccoy turns into beast, and gambits eyes change and he blows up a card table (playing poker of course) It even has wolverine reliving just about every wound he ever recieved, all at once. Hell, they were even supposed to have Iceman do one of his see through routines.

best job of bring a comic book to life ..... who would of thought when we were sittin in school or at home reading these awesome stories that it would be what it is today ... i cant wait to see it again

And one last thing. How bout the previews for the Incredible Hulk. I dunno if I really wanna see it. I don't think they did a good job with the computer animation on him. Just my thoughts though.

Saw X2 last night, loved it. I was amazed at how many funny scenes there were. It was great

As for the Hulk preview, I'm not going to waste my money on that at the theatres. When did he all of the sudden become like 15 feet tall? They should have stuck with the original stuff. Their digital animation in the previews was horrible, and I can't imagine it being any better in the movie. Maybe a rental down the line, but not worth the money in the theatres. Truly horrible.

I am gonna have to go see this again. I kept falling asleep because we went to see it while we were out of state at a car show. I never followed the comic book, so I will still probably not get a lot of the cameo's and stuff. It was good, just seemed drawn out to me, maybe because I was REALLY tired and the seats in that PA movie theater REALLY sucked, they did not even have f-ing cup holders!!!! Oh well, I will have to check it out again later.

peace

to the above note ... try to keep this in mind ... the hulk was created and started from a drawing and also Lou Frigno did not even put in perspective 1/4 of the Hulks real size ... there is no human on this earth that could stand in place of the real hulk .. also the animation that is used to make and creat this hulk is state of the art technology that has not been seen before ... this is an entire full length feature with this animation ... also how could you realisticly (using a human) show the hulks true power ... as shown in the many man comics ... that his Strength is measured and controlled by his anger level so the more pissed he gets the stronger he becomes .... and to really capture this and do it right .. this could not be put together properly with a human as the person to play him ..

I guess it's just not what I'm used to seeing the Hulk like. From past TV show and Past movies. Remember the one with Thor or something like that. Anyways. I just don't know that I want to see it though. Even if the graphics are state of the art and the first of it's kind, there's just something about the way he looked that I didn't like. Just my feelings.

When did he all of the sudden become like 15 feet tall?

I did some research on the comic book Hulk:

Green Hulk

Height: 7 ft (2.13 m)
Weight: 1,040 lb (472 kg)
Eyes: Green
Hair: Green
Skin: Green

Gray Hulk

Height: 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m)
Weight: 900 lb (408 kg)
Eyes: Gray
Hair: Black
Skin: Gray

Banner

Height: 5 ft 9 in (1.75 m)
Weight: 128 lb (58 kg)
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown
Skin: Caucasian

It's hard to catch, but ... Storm makes a direct reference to Jubilee. During the scene in which Storm and Nightcrawler find the children in the dungeon, Storm calls out, "Jubilee!" She's the asian girl you see in several scenes ... including the last one with Professor X and the children (along with Colossus (2thumbs) I hope he gets more air time in the next movie!)

Beast (Dr. Hank McKoy in the movie) was on the television in the bar scene with Rebecca Stamos. He's not in his "beast" form and is giving an interview.

And don't be too disappointed if they change up the backstory behind the Phoenix and totally disregard the Phoenix Saga. It's hard to put something as conceptual as that story on the silver screen and still maintain a grip on reality. After all, Rogue (in the comic books) has superhuman strength and the ability to fly ... begotten from sucking Ms. Marvel dry, at Mystique's command (long story)... and she's in love with Gambit, not Iceman. But, the movie doesn't touch upon these issues at all, for the same reasons the future Phoenix storyline will be changed (in my opinion).

All the same, I can't wait for the next one to come out !! (rockon)

Also, for those that did not know, the screenwriter of this film (david hayter) is the same dude who voices Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid. Useless trivia I know.

NO s***!! I would have never have guessed it! (hand)

He's got that cool gristly voice... Perfect for Solid Snake

What a game!

I seriously hope that Gambit makes an appearence. he was my favorite. Us cajun boys gotta stick together. Plus he is just a pimp. The cool thing about Xmen is that it could go on with a new movie every year because there are so many characters. Overall great movie. lots of action. Wonder who they are going to get to replace Jean gray in the next one?? Also did anybody else notice that cyclops got a new eyepiece????? I could sware it is different than the one in the first movie.

I think Jean will be back. Like I said Pheonix Saga. But I didn't notice the eyepiece thing, good catch. I think I might see it again this weekend.

The only time gambit pops up in the whole movie (unfortunately) is when mistique is searching the mutant list for magneto. also in the list you can clearly see remy lebeau listed (gambits name)

The best movie of the year and even with Matrix coming out this is still better than that and the Hulk.

Xmen rule!!! and so does Gambit. I got pumped when I saw Remy LeBeau on the monitor in the scene with Mystique. I will have to see it again to see Beast though.

I wasnt looking at the TV in the background when there is Rebecca Romijn in a tight ass dress!!!

Plus what does everyone think about Pyro... What a b****!! Not only does he leave and go with Magneto which is ok but what a pussy power. He cant make the fire only "maniuplate" it?
He is a wus.

Also why didnt Iceman rescue Rogue when she got sucked out of the plane?? Nightcrawlers rescue was badass but seeing Iceman slide down on his typical ice waves would have been better, plus the whole storyline of him and Rogue, it would have fit better I think.

That was nightcrawlers first act of heroism in the movie, until then he was just the creepy blue guy in the jet. He had to prove himself with a selfless act. Iceman had enough screentime, and chances to act big in front of Rogue.

True, that is a b**** move by Pyro. However, the director/screenwriters did right, in my opinion, because they remained true to the comic book storyline, regarding Pyro's actions.

I agree that Iceman's powers should have gotten more screenplay, but, then again, he isn't a full fledged "X-Man" yet. In the second to last scene (the oval office appearance), both he and Rogue are in X-man uniform. So I'm fairly sure they'll see more action in the next movie! (yippy) That last sentence could be interpreted in more than one way ... :D
