Ok guys I'm getting a little irritated now. I have a rattle on my car which happens usually if I accelerate at about 1500 rpm or a bit less. Now, I've had it looked at twice and both times they said it was the heat shields. One was taken off and he one under the hood was completely replaced, but it still happens!!*

You have no idea how much this irritates me cause I don't like drivin off wih my car sounding like it's falling appart. All the mechs that looked ab it looked at the exhaust system and couldn't see anything wrong.*

Anybody had this? What could it be?

where is the sound coming from? there is a heat shield underneath the car that sometimes rattles on my exhaust
besides that the only thing that i can think of is maybe loose exhaust manifold bolts

well the heat shield on the bottom I'd completely removed, and the one on the front part of the engine was just replaced completely today with a brand new one.

Tell me, when you begin to accelerate, roughly what rpm are you at? I've started going 2000 or even just a bi higher to avoid the damn rattle, but it's a tad too fast sometimes.

you still running stock exhaust or you get full exhaust. cus i have he same issue. but mine isnt loud at all but i can hear it. usually when i start my car and waiting to idle. mine was an aftermarket resanator blown

i start pretty low, like below 1500 lol
mine had a rattle for a while and it was loose exhaust mani bolts so thats why i mentioned that

idk what else it could be, dii you remove the j pipe heatshield or the one directly under the shifter?

I know the one that was removed was pretty much under the shifter.
The one that was replaced was the one atthe front of the engine.

Yeah I'm gonna take it to someone different today and mention the bolts. It's so irritating that if they can't figure it out I'm actually thinking of trading it in for something else to avoid a really costly repair.

Easy now... It sounds like a real cheap easy fix - once you know what it is.

Don't trade it in and lose money over this.

It could be the heat sheald on the back side of the cat, mine rotted off at the bolts and sat behind the cat and rattled at about 1500 rpm..

yea, it could be the j pipe shield or the cat. converter shield

make sure they, or you, go and check all those bolts for tightness

its really not a good idea to remove heat shields, the one under the shifter protects the shift bushings from melting as well as the undercarriage, so id get a new one and put it back on (just my .02) but like said before check the other shield on manifold and on the first cat.

Ok so since I don't really know where it is, where is the j pipe shield you guys mention?
