wrx with turkey

First off that was sort of a gay video. anyway. alot of wrc cars have flutter like that. i'm not really sure why, but theirs are made to do that. ours, not so much. if anyone knows why maybe they can shed some light but i do know that our cars and wrc cars are not the same species.

wastegate

........another reason i dont believe that we have compressor surge.......but that's just me.

after watching numerous videos with RX-7's and sylvias making the same "turkey" as us i'm very reluctant to say that it is surge. some of those cars are over $100k.

even on Sega GT game for xbox the RX-7 makes the same sound.

I have Need For Speed Underground and when you pull up for a race, the cars make the turkey.

I do not enough myself to come to a conclusion but the only ones who have gotten rid of it did it with two BOV/BPV's.

To most of you new turbo guys your like "what the hell is that sound?" But Gents before the days of this huge aftermarket support we have now with the advances in BOV design </ST1:p"Turbo flutter" is all you heard. It has also been called "wastegate chatter" But this chatter is usually associated with compressor surge and is usually only seen in hi boost applications. <O:p</O:p

Its the vacuum source versus the mechanics of the particular BOV/BPV used. Its simply the gate of the valve opening and closing very quickly. What everyone hears with the MSP's is the gate of the stock BPV opening and closing inside the intake piping. Get a SRI or CAI and it will become more evident only because of the better flow not that either one made it worse. Go with a different BOV or share the work with say a stock and an aftermarket BOV or duel chamber BOV and the flutter will disappear all together. As the after market BOV choice would be doing almost all the work.<O:p</O:p

In turboe'd autos, turbo flutter is very hard to lose in any advent. Because in autos you never go from open to wide open throttle to completely closed, as in shifting in a manual. In order to change fluttering, it has been said that it is the choice of BOV's, but its more contingent to the spring setting versus the vacuum pressure the choice valves are seeing. <O:p</O:p

And yes till around 6 years ago all turbo cars were using very different designs in venting the intake pressure, yeah you had fluttering but with 20+ psi believe me it sounded fkg crazy. Watch some footage from Subaru WRX's of the Colin McRea late 90's era and you would hear what I'm talking about. <O:p</O:p

Like I said to most of you new guys this Flutter, gobble, turkey (lol only till these forums have I ever heard it referred this way) is a strange sound but to the old the only strange sound is Pshsssss!<O:p</O:p

Seriously...I told t3ase we should have a subforum devotd to "SRI vs CAI", "Turkey" and "BOV"

The thing is I spent some time to do research and posted in a thread called "Turkey explained"

The truth is lots of turbo cars make the turkey sound...espeically JDM cars like the 180sx which dont come with a BPV/BOV, so it flutters. Same with competition cars WRC, veilside supra the so called "ultimate skyline GT-R."

The nissan guys have been through this so lets try to learn form what they say:

if you like the turkey or dislike it read this thread: it will answer a great deal about flutter and 505zooms setup

Turbo chatter, wastegate flutter, compressor surge, turkey what ever you call it please read the thread....I didnt spend two days doing a CA18DET swap and looking online just to have people debate what it is and if its harmful. Nissan guys explained it pretty well.

http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56075&highlight=turkey+explained

also those of you who want to know about adjusting the greddy BOV...tx speed demon has a excellent write up of how to set it up without stalling.

TAKE OFF THE STOCK BOV!!! then tell me its the bov.....end.
Word, I'm not using the stocker, and I can hear the "whooosh" and the flutter, meaning that the flutter is not coming from the BOV "opening and closing quickly".

dont you guys see?

you hear the turkey and act like newbies...the gawd damn turkey, getting rid of the turkey damn!

FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

ALL TURBO CARS HAS THE ******* TURKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN IT!!!!!!!! THATS HOW A TURBO BEHAVES

I am stating the obvious here but, the flutter is probably because he recirculates and the flutter on the WRC cars is the anti turbo lag system which cost MUCHO$

Stocker's gone. now I only get surge (TURKEY ... hehe) when barely into boost when the valve doesn't open, and at the start of the pssht before the valve opens enough to blow off. Personally I don't care if it's wastegate flutter or surge because it's now mostly gone. Continue the debate ....

man i am hungry for some turkey now

It is based on the vacuume source, which affects both the BPV/BOV and the wastegate actuator.

Our stock BPV is so light it will open with the minimal amount of vacuume, also set a aftermarket BOV to its lightest setting and it too will flutter. If you take the BPV out you will still have flutter from the wastegate. They all share the same general vacuume source. And they work in unisen.
