WRX STi Or Mazdaspeed Protge ????????

STi is so sweet... It was between those cars for me too. But I went with the MSP because it is cheaper. I would rather not have 650 dollar car payments. That was the only reason. I basiocally settled for the MSP. I would have bought the STi if I could have afforded it. Well, that or the EVO. Now that I think about it, I shoudl have held out for the EVO.

LOL

I would have had to hold out for like 4 years before I could have gotten an Evo though.

If I could do it over again........ I'd take the Scoobidoo STi over the MSP for sure........

My friend has an STi and I want to steal his I/C sprayer!!!!

I think I'm going to see if you can order that from Subaru dealer!!!

Probably costs a freakin fortune. But cool to have!

damn az..we were thinking the same exact thing...you just beat me to it

LOL and we are in the same state too.......WEIRD. Hey do oyu ever go to the pavillions. I am trying to get a meet going in PHX......then maybe a cruise to flagstaff.

How about from now on we try getting comparisons between 2 cars into the same ******* price bracket. Ahhh, what a revelation.
Personally I'd take a 13,000 dollar FD3S over the STi or the Evo.

No freakin way are we starting that SRT-4 vs. MSP crap again!

No more comparisons! Comparisons consume every thread this forum has ever seen!

Stop the comparisons. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the '04 models of the Impreza are much much better looking then the previous model and the STI is a decent looking car minus the spoiler of course, but everyone has there own taste in appearance.
And no you really can't compare the two vehicles mechanically, the STI is superior in pretty much every aspect.
No offense orng_mazdaspeed, but asking WRX STI or MSP as far as which is better is like asking a girl if she wants a diamond or a cubic zirchonia(spelling?), the answers quite obvious.
And yes I realize everyone has there own tastes in preference just those 2 cars don't belong in a comparisn against each other.

i have a p5 which as we all know is very slow. ive driven the msp and have been impressed by them but i just got an sti for a company car to build for sema. let me tell you, there is no comparison. the sti is awesome. for the money though the msp is not a bad buy.

Ok everybody is talking about sti or evo 31000 plus tax tiltle and all that other s*** = more than what i can afford....but if i did have that money it would be a used 2002 Z06 no if and or butts! Repeat after me High 12's stock with handling to boot!

As far as the M3 being worth more than the STi in 5 years. That will remain to be seen. I can see a low milage STi still being priced around $30K in a couple of years because it's limited production collectors car...(to some people anyway). Not that you won't be able to get a used STi for less in a couple of years, but the milage on the vehicle is what will determine the price. For s**** and giggle, here's an example. There are low milage Twin Turbo Supra's (which aren't limited production) going for over $42K still. Why? Because the milage is very low. On the other end of the spectrum, I've seen high milaged Twin Turbo Supra's sell for less than$24K, again the milage determined the low price.

I would most definately take the STi over the any Protege. Hmmmm....own a piece of Automotive history or own a econobox with a turbo. The STi would definately get tons more recognition than the MSP or MP3 ever will.

I don't know how to tell you this, but the STi _IS_ an econobox with a turbo. It's an Impreza with a big turbo. I've been in an STi, and you sure as hell don't feel like you are in a $30k car - until you hit the gas.

i was at the maine forest rally this weekend. Saw about 4382492789 imprezas of all flavors and at least a dozen EVOs and a few STIs

I was the only orange MSP. Hell I was one of only like 4 mazdas in total. I had people taking pictures of my car parked ont he side of the road, video taping it when I was driving through the service area, and got complimented every single time i stopped in on my whole trip.

STI is a superior automobile, but I would still prefer my MSP and 12k spending money over a STI.

If they were both 20k i would probably have to go with the STI even though I like the MSP looks a lot more....

Ahh the hype, any car can have any value. BMW can worth more than a STi or the STi can worth more than a Bimmer, it's all to the buyer and what he's willing to pay. About the mileage on a car, actually the most stressful time on the engine is actually cold-starting, not really how many mileages are on the engine. Cold starting is when all the parts in the engine doesn't have to the most adequate lubrication = most wear on the engine, so an engine with frequent cold start can actually wear out the engine faster than a high mileage engine.

And back 2 the subject of the STi vs. MSP, well STi pushes like a fat kid rolling thru mud. Don't know what people's obession with AWD, it's nice and safe, but it ain't the best way to race. First, you loss the most out of all drivetrain configuration (FWD, AWD, RWD) due to more components in the drivetrain. Plus AWD aren't good for racing, cuz it doesn't let you turn, hence the safety factor of all wheel drive. Now I'm talking about track racing, not considering off-road racing. The only way STi is more performance than MSP is cuz it got more power so the car accelerate faster, but that doesn't make it a better car. Car with less HP can and did beat it, i.e. EVO. So with that in mind, give me 31k, and a choice between STi and a MSP: I'll pick MSP, cuz the money save goes into MSP's engine and the STi will have a handful against a now more capable MSP.

So, why did they ban quattro from the Touring Car series exactly? It wasn't because Audi was losing a lot, I can tell you that.

lol, If I had 31 grand to spend on a car. I would get an r-32 Skyline. :D **** an STI or Evo. (upyours)

werd....but lucky I live in Canada...and we got some CRAZY 15 year law, which states "Any car that's 15 years or older can be imported from anywhere across the world, free from passing emissions tests" And if you live in my provence, you can insure it as a RHD car, and saftey is like "it has a seatbelt? front/rear bumper? windows? Doors? 4 wheels? Okay it passes"

which means starting next year 1989 R32 Skyline GTRs are legal to import DIRECTLY from japan to canada, estimated price, 20 Thousand CANADIAN :)

Am I gonna get one? Hopefully if I don't go crazy spending my money like I did last year :)

But yea if I lived in the US and had 31K to spend on a car R32 GTR for me please :)
