World's first mazdaspeed5 (merged)

Anyone heard of any updates?

Nah, I have this in the Google auto-search thing and so far the is the latest that has come out :(

I wonder if it gets even worse mileage than the Speed 3? 18mpg is sad for a 4cylinder.

We are talking a curb weight of 3,417lb for the 2006-2010 Mazda5 (MT) and 3,153lb for the 2007-2009 MazdaSPEED3, so yes, it will be worse for sure (city or highway).

Now, a Mazda5 with that engine, I would not mind the lower MPG nor the premium gas :D

Looks like a great project but what I think they should do... (I might have stated this earlier in the thread) is make it have all aftermarket parts... they already sort of had that going with the Cobb FMIC and Mazdaspeed intake... with an AP they could sort out their boost cut issue and get a protune for it with bolt ons. Then it will seriously kick some ass.

well, it seems like a fun "can it be done" project, but at this point i think i would rather have the new SHO if i wanted a family car with POWAH!

or maybe if i was going to pick a rediculous platform to soup up i might go for a rwd econovan and drop an LS9 in that b****!

I saw this thing driving around over the summer in Ann Arbor, near C&D headquarters. It looks great with the drop and the MS wheels on it. I'd like to see what came out of this.

This just in = The SHO is a wallowing pig. It should be illegal for cars to be that heavy! It's needs all that motor just to get out of it's own way, and due to it's porcine mass, it's poor brakes are overmatched.

Sorry, don't know why I felt the need to rag on a nice (if terribly obese) car. But that motor in a Fusion and I will go buy one yesterday!!!! As soon as I saved up enough of course.

if you are hard on it all the time it does. a lot of people can get descent mileage on their turbo'd cars if they try. hell, even a prius without turbos gets 18 mpg if you are always on the accelerator.

My friend once only got 16.5 MPG out of his Yaris.

Meanwhile I get a pretty respectable 23 MPG out of my car.

Yep, planning on doing this same swap in the near future. Stay Tuned (rockon)
