Ok the reason im asking is cause sonys instructions are all screwed up for this one wire.
I have a metra harness 70-7903 I have used all the wires but one which is a blue/white wire which says amp on.

On the Headunit harness I have used them all but 3 wires.
blue/white= To Amp REMOTE IN of an optional power amp (This connection is only for amps connecting any other system may damage the unit.
Blue= To power antenna (I dont have)
Light blue= Interface cable for car telephone(also not using)

So do I hook the 2 blue/white wires together or not is the question. The way it sounds to me is the blue/white wire from the stereo and from the metra harness are both to power an amp on start up since I dont have an external amp I wouldnt need them. Just making sure they arent suppose to be hooked together guess i could of always tried and seen if i got sound but just checkin.

Do not hook up any of those wires. The blue wires from teh radio will carry 12 volt power as they are turn on leads for the antenna and an amplifer. As you don't have either, cap them off so that they can nevertouch metal or another wire (since if they do you will pop a fuse or kill the deck) and your all set. Basicly, any wire you don;t need should just be covered up.

Also, don't ever buy a sony radio again. I can not promise you any assistance in the future if you do

Why does everyone hate sony the reviews i read on this one were good and the one my friend had was a nice unit. This is the one i got what other deck would you recamend in the same price range? I can still return it and buy another deck from somewhere else since i hate bestbuy now. I was never into audio much just performance parts on my camaro i even took out the radio lol.
Sony - 52W x 4 XM-Ready CD Deck with MP3/ATRAC3plus Playback - CDXF7710

What about this kenwood
Kenwood - 50W x 4 Sirius/HD Radio-Ready CD Deck with MOSFET Amp - KDC-MP628
I wouldnt buy from here just for a reference lol.

Kenwood has terrible realiabilty as does sony. Both of them way over inflate there abilities to sell radios and are typicly junk.

Get a Pioneer, or better yet a Pioneer Premier as it has a 2 year warreny, an Alpine, Clarions, Eclipse, Panasonic or even JVC. That is pretty much in the order I would place the makers too.

The Pioneer Premier DEHP670MP has everything that unit does and I guarentee it sounds better and will be alot more reliable. At that price you are approaching the DEHP770MP which is a sweet unit. I am just no a fan of its control knob.

Try to find a car audio specialty shop in your area or an audio/video store. Retail superstores such as Best Buy and Circuit City have untrained technicians doing installs and the equipment they sell is not very good to begin with.

If you are going to install it yourself, www.crutchfield.com has by far the best customer service for retail pricing and they usually give you a free installation kit, wiring harness, detailed installation instructions, and sometimes free shipping which makes it actually cheaper than retail. www.sounddomain.com typically has better pricing but you don't always get the free-bees unless they have a promotion. Both are authorized dealers for the products they sell so you will receive the full manufacturer's warranty.

I was thinkin of buying one off sound domain before but I wasnt sure if i wanted to order one offline. I think im going to take my sony back and get the pioneer off sound domain they also give you a free harness and installation kit.

my step dad has a Sony HU in his car
the RCA outputs suddenly stopped working, leaving him without subwoofer sound in his car

nice HU

Well the pioneer premium DEH-P7700MP is ordered sounddomain had a killer deal i had to get it. They had it for $209 at best buy its $269 plus I got the free install kit, free harness, and free connectors which is more then 40 dollars at best buy. To my door it was $220 so thats a great deal if anyone else is looking for a new head unit.

I'm gonna be selling my Pioneer Premier DEH-P640 on ebay within the next couple weeks! Interested?!?! (thumb)

And after I get rid of that, I'm getting another Pioneer! lol Best systems I've ever owned...

What would be the reasoning behind swapping a 640 to a 770?
Get something better like the 960, the 8Mp or even a DVD system.

Here it is installed but i still have to hook up the harness waiting to get it on tuesday.
