basically converts it from cai to sri from what i understand whats involved? i have no idea

well...wow...there isnt anything to it. a cai is usually split into two pieces. the short turbo coming from the inlet and the longer tube that connects to the short tube...simple remove the longer tube and put the filter on the short one. if it takes you more than 10 minutes then call a friend or higher a professional. :)

the answer is obvious to the OP's question, but with the sheild and the undercar plastic protection would it really be necessary to convert it? In Los Angeles it rains during the winter, I'll convert it if its beneficial, but I was thinking the ms cai looks pretty well protected from the elements

there's no need to do anything with it. the CAI is fine on the speed 3 and very well protected.

I've had mine in seroius rain while on the road and just recently spent 4 days trecking around in 8-12" lake effect crap and she's as clean as the day I took her out of the box.

I just changed the oil this afternoon, had her up on a lift and it's very clear that the lower cowl protects her very well.

IMO those that have hydro locked definitely submerged the front end in 4-6" plus flows of water while rolling. There's no way you're going to suck up water from spray from semi's or rain or snow. Been there done that. this is the same type of set up that I've had on my past two cars and they never had issues either.

If you are prone to driving down flooded roads, then yes, go SRI.

Agreed, you really don't have anything to worry about.

Plus, if you convert your CAI to SRI, I don't recall there being anyway to mount the intake to the car somehow. I wouldn't want that extra weight hanging off the end of the coupler to the intake.

And AAMguy, I think you meant "hire a professional", not "higher a professional". lol, I couldn't help it.

alright im just going to throw one of those water filter socks on my intake and taht will keep it cleaner too i guess.
