Winter driving and stock tires

Hey just a quick question about my tires... it just snowed over here in Vancouver and I've been driving my car around in it. The snow is the slushy kind, not the hard packed stuff. My car only has about 4000kms on it so the tires are still new. I was just wondering if anyone around my area had trouble driving with the stocks? My car doesn't seem to grip at all.

The stock tires are crap in snow. We just go a light snowfall yest and mine was having trouble gripping.
Next winter, it's winter steelies and tires for me

yeah stock tires are sucks on snow, that's why i got a set of winter tires and steelie two months ago, BTW i am in calgary.

You guys are lucky that it hardly snows in Vancouver. In Toronto it snows alot, and when it does, the city puts salt, sand and dirt on the roads. Yuck!

I prefer rains in Vancouver over snow any day.

That's why I'm looking forward to going back to Hong Kong.

Yeah, i've been driving alot recently and i'm near UBC.

They suck ass in the snow :P

When it was snowing down here I only took out my car once since it was horrible driving it I was slippin' and skidding everywhere going only like 5mph-10mph. After that I started driving my dad's Mistubishi Montero Sport 4WD not that is the s*** in the snow.

I'm in the Okanogan,...the stock SP5000's are brutal in the wet/snow,...really bad,...wear them out asap before you slide off the road and bend your ride.

Heh, i did that before it was raining or snow, damn tires. $480 of damage thanks to bending my front right control arm ;)

Yeah, the SP 5000's suck in the rain and snow, especially when worn over 50%. I picked up snow tires and steel rims last winter and they are great. Picked up some for my sister this year and she said they are so much better then the dumlops during the two storms we had this winter, so far. Got the 14 symperit snow (top grip???) 195/65/14 and steel rims. Got my sister the 185/65/14's with steel rims for $431 including everything from tires.com. Good people there and the 14 inch rims will fit ES's and P5's.

After getting some snowtires, I'd just wish everyone else on *AHEM* "All Seasons" would just get the hell out of my way as I drive confidently along.
