Window Tinting

Hi all.

We are looking at getting a 2009 5 GT-Luxury in the colour "crystal white pearl". What is a popular/recommended tint darkness for the back windows?

PS we will be getting it professionally done. Although the dealer says they do it too (for $400)

My front sides are 20% and the rest is 5%. It looks really good on the white. I bought a pre cut kit from eBay and did it myself. The only problem was that I couldn't do the back window in one piece, just to much curve!

The tint was good quality and fit perfect with only minor trimming. It looks 99% of a pro job at a lot less money and when I get snotty fingerprints on the back side windows it doesn't bother me as much as it would if I had paid more.

If you are getting the 2009 model, you can't do windshield strip, it will interfere with the wiper sensor.

I have 35% in front and 20% everywhere else on a mica red mazda 5 2009 GT

sure you can. You just need to get pro to do it for you. I was told the same thing for 06-07 and still got it done.

The wiper sensor is secured by a plastic box... I wouldn't see why you'd be scared to put a strip above... You simply go around this black plastic box and there you go!

It would do the same as what Rain X does to the sensor. It would think it was raining harder than it is and go crazy all the time. A pro will cut around it if you tell them what to look out for.

We did 5% all around on the rear windows and 20% on the two front windows of our 5. Looks good. Should have limo tinted the rear though.

FormulaONE Pinnacle tint on 2008 White Mazda5 GT NAV

We had our windows tinted with Llumar FormulaONE Pinnacle series ceramic tint on our 2008 Crystal White Pearl Mica MAZDA5 Grand Touring w/ NAV.

We went with 35% in the front two windows and 15% on all the back windows.

We were sure to go with ceramic tint to avoid interference with the electronics. It turned out nice and although it looks dark from the outside, it really is not too dark from the inside looking out. I was a bit worried the two different tints would not look uniform along the side of the car, but from the outside it looks very uniform. In the picture below I put a white envelop from behind to show the difference in the two tints. When I first brought it home looking from the outside, I thought it was all the same tint! (boom02)

Now lose the side moldings and the whip antenna. Pimp it out with some headrest dvd while you are at it.

Also change the interior lights to LED

I'm getting my new ride tinted this weekend. How much did you pay for the cermaic tint? Installer is charging $40 more vs the standard tint. I'm getting 3M.
