Wind Noise

Have a 07 CX9 sport, have owned it for about 2 months now. So grateful for this forum because i had the squeeks and the creaks in the fron suspension that mazda said they couldnt do anything about. Took it to my mechanic, with the instructions to grease the bump stops and so forth , and VOILA!!!!! No more squeeks and creaks. So much for my Mazda dealer. Now if only i can locate and fix the wind noise comming in from the drivers window or door (not sure where it is comming from). Starts at about 45 MPH and continues . Just wondering if anyone has experienced this? Has a fix for it? or any ideas how i can locate the sourse of the noise. If i can correct this problem i will be one Happy camper. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What comes to mind immediately on an '07 is the welt (weather strip) around the driver door. If it's cracked or even worn, it could be the source of wind noise, but to know for sure, run it by your local Mazda dealer and have them examine all the welts and even check window alignment, etc.

Best wishes!

thanks teedeebee. But my mazda dealer is a complete idiot!!!!! I wouldnt take my wheelbarrow to them for repair, im glad the car is out of warranty to be honest with you. I will check the weatherstripping like you said, going to also take it to a friend of mine who owns a auto body shop, maybe i can get some ideas from him. Was just wondering if anyone else had this problem on their CX9

Mine does it on the passenger side, I am just going to replace the weatherstrippig whenever I get aroung to it to see if it fixes slight problem. Mine is a 07' as well.

well i figured out where it is comming from and it is the weatherstripping around the window, the channel where the window goes in. I taped the window there and went for a ride, the wind noise was gone. Went to a guy who runs a body shop and is a friend of mine, told him mazda said its the weatherstripping and they want 300 bucks to replace both driver and passanger side window....grrrrr, no way. We are in the process of trying a few things to eliminate the noise. Mine is comming from the upper right hand corner as you are looking at the driver side window. The weatherstripping is bowed in, seems like it is deformed. We pulled back the weatherstripping and filled it in with some hard foam and resealed it. Seems to have stopped the windnoise. What this did was made the window close tighter in that area. Only tested it for a few minutes but i think it worked. If not i know we are close. So check the weatherstipping and see if it is indented in the upper right hand corner, if it is, it is the same problem that i have. Body friend said the new weatherstripping wont always work. Its a hit or miss when replacing them. Ill keep you posted on how i make out. If it works ill try and give you detailed instructions on what we did. Good luck

Good for you. Doesn't it feel good when you save plenty pesos by doing it yourself! Post again if your quick fix seems to be working over time.

It is working. The wind noise from the window is 99% gone. I keep listening and checking to see if it really is gone, and by damn, its gone. Now all i hear is the normal wind blowing over the car, which is the aerodynamics of the car so i am pleased. Now i have the creaking and the squeeking under contral thanks to this forum...total cost 20 bucks...Have the wind noise taken care of...total cost....0000 bucks...The only thing left is the squeeling in the brakes in reverse....Im gonna still ask around and work on that one.
