Can 215/40/18 work on the SP3 rims on the P5? or will it rub?
I got a set of the SP3 without tires, trying to figure out if 215/40/18 will rub. I'm just trying to get a better ride on the car. 35's might be to rough. Need to know before I go out and buy some tires.

planning to lower the car, if the 215/40/18 works and does no have to much gap with stock suspension then I might leave it stock
I can't stand the gaps.

Hopefully 40's work on both lowered or stock height. If not I'll have to go with 35's

Please let me know
Thanks in advance

that looks awesome but i dont know if i could run on a 35 sidewall. Are you running stock suspension?

its not that bad....and we have some mean potholes around here. i do a pretty good job of avoiding them. and i know what roads are horrible.

im on mazdaspeed struts with an eibach pro kit.

im not sure but i believe a 40 sidewall will rub. not sure about on a stock suspension. i kinda wanna try a 40 but dont wanna get em on there and have rubbing...and most the people have done their research which is why everyone is mainly running a 35 series.

215/40 will fit. Bala was running PIAA mesh wheels at 18x7.5 +48 offset with them....I forget what he was lowered on though.

DPMARC I was wondering the samething I just scored some MS3 wheels with a 45 series tire on it. I PMed 808P5 and he runs a 45 series with 18's and hes lowered on Tein coilovers. So i am hoping the 215/45/18 will fit without rubbing if so i will roll the fenders and see it helps.

im not worried so much about the fenders. i dont have a lot of room for strut to tire clearance. thats my main concern.

There are the same offset as the RX8 rims from what i saw. The strut to rim clearance is what is close.

I could possibly run 45...maybe but the inside lip of the rim is less than a 1/16th of an inch from the strut. YOU CAN NOT USE CLAMP ON WHEEL WEIGHTS!!!! They hit the strut. Go ahead ask me how i found this one out.(evil) LOL.

45s will not fit on 18s with stock suspension. don't think lowering it has anything to do with it either. 45s hit the spring perch.

to be safe i would say go with a 35 when i had 18's before the MS3 wheels i have 35 serious tires and it was fine just rubbed when i have more than 1 person in the back. I also had s techs so that was part of it.

Thanks I'll probably go with the 35's but I'm really curious about 40's
i have kids and i kinda want 40's for a better ride
