why do people hate civics?

i see nothing wrong with civics. i dont like the things alot of ricers do to them, but i'd much rather have a civic over a cavalier or a sunfire or a focus or a corolla.

hell id probably even take one over a regular protege.

i see people say "its just a civic" or "its a crappy civic"....well "its just a protege"

you can build up their motors with the thousands of non-ricer parts out there for them and make them beastly fast. hell you can even make them look really good with the right parts.

i think the ricer stigma around them makes people hate them

The reason everyone hates civics is because everyone and there mother has one. What's the point of making a civic fast? really if it has been done to death but to make a P5 fast a wagon! now that is just really creative and different. 1000 homos drive around in riced up civics I would not want to be affliated with a civic for that reason alone.

and for "just a protege" ...when i think about how much was developed for the protege and how much was developed for the civic, there's so much effort done by individuals for the protege (i.e. perfworks, hiboost, iON, wagner) rather than large companies like edelbrock, aem, greddy.

yeah, i understand. i'm just sayin', there's so many things you can do to a civic with ease, but a lot of work goes into making a protege fast...

Yeah but that's what makes it fun trying to find parts, going custom instead of going to pep boys and autozone grocery shopping for every available part that a civic has I mean really that pisses me off I can go to k-mart and get civic parts (chair) Also if your going show it is extremely difficult to compete with a civic you must be insane to win instead with a protege or P5 you have good chances.

I have a 2000 Civic Si and I have never had a problem with it
One week after I purchased my P5 New
I had to get my alternator replaced
then soon after my transmission had to be rebuilt

a nice, clean built civic (i like)
a nice, clean built protege (i like)

Some owners just go el cheapo.. that's what ruins a car (civic or protege)

dont forget honda has the ultamate aftermarket support PERIOD, you will never beat them, you can get anything for a civic, they are super easy to mod, yeah their slow to begin with but they are faster than a protege and corolla (stock for stock).

If you buy a civic, you might as well castrate yourself because every girl I know owns a civic. You can't drive anywhere in the U.S. for more than 5 min. without seeing a civic. How often do you see a mazda compared to a honda? You probably see one mazda to every ten hondas. Every ricer civic I see is the same. A $150 oversized exhaust (non-SS) that makes obnoxious noise, cheap tinted windows, a $100 drop that some local mech just probably melted the springs and $1000 rims that are worth more than the whole car. Just rubs me the wrong way I guess.(dunno)

Over priced, only reliable because you HAVE to have ALL work done by a dealer or the warranty is void.

They look like s***, the styling is VERY outdated.

They don't handle as well.

The interior is cheap looking.

Seats are horrible.

The SI looks like some kind of giant birds egg.

A stock Protege and a Stock Civic, Pro wins everytime.

I only see hub caps on a civic

Or only 2 alloy rims on the back...going for that dragster look.

i always see them without the hub caps on, so its bare hub...i guess thats the "drag" setup lol..
