Why can't this be the new MS3?

it confounds me that this car isn't availavble in the U.S.

this country really is going down the tubes faster than a sunscreened fat kid at the water park... :(

Bringing another $36k car into the picture isn't the solution though. Not in this economic climate.

First if you want the focus rs then buy it. Second I think that engine is trash compared to the disi. Five cylinders is a horrible design and I would much rather have four cylinders. And I am pretty sure the "revo knuckle" is just a fancy marketing term that does little to nothing to help with torque steer.

First off, you can't buy it in the U.S.

Secondly, while it's not as technologically advanced as the MZR DISI engine, the turbo 5 in the new RS is no slouch, and definitely not trash. Plus, I don't know anyone who doesn't like the sound of an uncorked, boosted inline-5. ;)

The RevoKnuckle will indeed reduce torque steer, and anyone who doesn't understand why by looking at the design has no business commenting on the worthiness of ANY suspension design.

I don't think five cylinders sound any better than a four cylinder. But I don't buy engines to listen to them I buy them because they work good so I will stick with a four cylinder. It's a four stoke engine not a five stroke engine so I will take four cylinders. I five cylinder is sheer stupidity.

I don't like 10 cylinder engines either. Seriously I would like to see bigger inline four cylinders instead of V8s and V6s as well. I think they should make 5 liter inline turbo four cylinders.

..that rev to what, like, 2-3K RPM tops, get absolutely horrible fuel economy, and overheat?? (lol2)

ugh...should I even BEGIN to explain why that is an utterly retarded idea for car engines??

i 2nd that

in the history of autmotive engines i think the whole idea of bigger displacement from 4 cylinders was trumped when they realized that they could just add more cylinders. then you get into V configurations, boxers, W. having a larger 4 cyl would be pointless.

the good thing about 5 cyl is that in a way it's a nice way to get a little more of the 6 cyl power whilst keeping with some of the 4 cyl gas mileage. and there are plenty of vehicles that employ 5 cyl including gm's colorodo and H3 hummer, audi had used some for a while, and probably the most famous incorporater of 5 cyl engines is volvo....and those engines are solid

You Fail! The design of a 4 stroke engine / 2 stroke engine does not coraspond with the number of cyclinders.

More cylinders=smoother engine. That is the major reason four cylinder engines dont go over typically 2.5 liters. Ever seen a piston from a v-12 ferrari ? they are super tiny. Thats why we dont have 5 liter one cylinder engines.

went to look up ferrari engine sizes beacuse i remembered they use a biger bore then stroke and was currious what the size was. 6.0 v-12 in enzo was/is 92 mm bore and 75.2 stroke. 3.62in bore x 2.96in stroke and the 2.3 mzr engins in the speed3 among other mazda and ford cars is 87.5mm x 94mm or 3.4" x 3.7", Gen III LS1 5.7 liter is 99.25mm x 92 mm or 3.9" x 3.6"
