Who has, & How Fast are the Fastest N/A Protege's?

good stuff. good to see you're 60ft times dropping too (although bit by bit)

Thanks!

Unfortunatly he 0-60F wont drop too much yet (Still on a up-prepped track)

BUT, now that I got into the 15's and after I put in a few more things, Im heading out to the track on the 20$ night where they do full track prep.

Ill be hoping for a mid to low 15 that night :)

what rpm are you guys launching at when racing??

Pretty high, arroud 4500-5500rpm.

With 16PSI Tire presure the hook up is great for a un-prepped track, still there is alot of spin at launch, and in the 1-2 shift.

try launching at a lower rpm (3500-4000) and get no spin off the line.

i launch at 4k with no tyre spin. did the same type of launch in lordworm's car and beat his best 60ft on my only try in his car ;)

Ive tried that , but the car catches way too low in the rpm's.

Ive also tried slipping the clutch, but in the end I always get my best times from a clutch dump at high revs, yeah there is slipping, but the catch is WAY higher in the rpms.

I clock how good the traction is on a given night, by how much slip I get in the 1-2 shift.

You can see exactly what goes down in my launch in this Vid (Discounting the first race, as my tires had some fluid left on the track robing traction)

Keep in Mind in the Vid I was running 32PSI in my tires, and had a passenger.

You don't have my best 60ft time anymore mate!...but yeah... 4k seems to be the sweet spot for the car...anything less and it bogs, anything more and it just lights up.

Yeah, Ill head out to the 1/8 tonight, and hold her at 4000rpm for my launch and see how she goes.

Yeh see how it goes... do try the slip thing... especially on a decently prepped track....

Mind you, my 16.1 PB was just about the sloppiest quarter i've ever put together....bad launch, bad shifting, poor traction, axletramp (may have been partially responsible for chewing up my stock front mount) - but it was fast.... so the theory is all good, but it seems to goto hell in a handbasket when its actually happening =)

see how you go...

you guys keep talking about prepping the track...

what the hell is that? do they wipe it with something b4 the race or spray more cement?

Yeah is a traction compound they spray over the track. assists grip in a big way.

You'll often see the people who prep tracks with grins ear to ear if people start snapping axles, diffs, drive shafts, gearboxes, frying clutches etc, because its a mark of a good track prep :)

I was down at western sydney international dragway a last month to watch twilight race, and every second race, someone snapped something....the track was super sticky

oooo, so it's cheating!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!?!!!?!?!?!
No its trackprep.

Its cheating if you put extra traction compound on your own tyres....

But you'll find that at all pro events, any meet you go to compete in, and a large proportion of the "test and tune" street meet sort of nights you head out to, there is some sort of track prep done.

i gotta find out if my track does this, i have never seen them doing anything like that but i might b wrong

sry, it's on at teh same time as super dupper sweet 16, and i can't miss that!!!

lol

Usually the track is prepped before you arrive

takes time to lay coat apon coat of the stuff all over that much track.

At the track I attend, if someone drops stuff on the track, they close the lanes for sometimes half an hour or more to clean it up and reprep just the affected area...

Any reputable track will prep their racing surface. Not only to lower 60' times, and therefore lower ETs, but no paying fan wants to come to an event and see top fuel dragsters spinning their tires for 7 seconds.

I guess it's about time I get to the 1/4 mile and see what I can do. Remind me to zero out my camber.

Half to 2/3 track burnouts are still cool to watch though ;)

burn outs are about 50% of the reason why i go to meets, 30% is big losses and blowups, the rest is to see times tumble :)
