White Smoke at start up

Hello all,

Just recently I changed my oil and I noticed the level dropped a little but I wasn't concerned. This morning starting my car, I noticed a puff of white smoke leaving the garage... I was like crap, my car burns oil!

The car is a 2007 Mazda 3 GT, manually trany with the 2.3 engine. I have about 40700 miles on her. My question is, what do you think it is and what should I tell the dealer when I bring it in this week. Hopefully this is covered under warranty.

Thanks in advance.

A long time ago, I had a similar problem on one of my older cars. I only noticed smoke from a cold startup, but throughout the day, starting up on a warm engine didn't have the same problem. In a textbook, burning oil smoke is sometimes referred to as blue smoke.

In the end they found the problem to be various gasket and oil seal leaks into the cylinder.

Hope this helps!

would valve seals be covered under warranty? I never did that kind of work to my car before so I dont even want to attempt it.
