Which TT to choose?

First of all, there's probably some threads out there about this already that are a few months old or whatever, but I want to get some recent updated feedback from fellow MSP owners on this one.

I've had my car for about 6 months, and I'm a bit slow as far as parts go. This is the first car I own that is turbo'd, and I want to now get a TT. I'm not really sure which one works the best with the MSP. Hell, I don't even know how to install it really. But with that aside, I'm just looking for some feedback from people who have a TT installed, like, what you like about it, dislike, etc., as I plan on getting one in the very near future to help with maintanence and such. Thanks.

HKS.....i had a few of them in different cars . never had any problems.
cheap, work good, and have a few options, such as volts, rpm, speed (type-1), and counts down the time too....;).....
essentually all of them are the same, greddy will show you your boost as well if you hook it up, but i got a separate boost gauge for that.
just get the one that looks the best to you....

Thanks man, I will go and check out the HKS. It was pretty much coming down to HKS vs. Greddy, but since Greddy comes with a boost gauge, I may check that one out. I'm guessing though that it wil ultimately come down to price.

I wouldnt go with the greddy! everyone I know has problems with it. I got the blitz dtt and I love it. It works great and it comes with a boost gauge.

I have the Greddy Full Auto Turbo Timer and it works perfectly. I'd recommend it if all you want is a turbo timer. My thoughts are if you want a boost gauge, then get a real one. I like the greddy because all it does is keep the car running, and that's all I want it to do. It was only like $80 from www.apexr1.com , which is an awesome price. There's no wiring harness available for our car, so you'll have to solder into the ignition wires. There's a really good writeup on how to do it here: http://church56.tripod.com/blitz.html . This writeup is for the blitz unit, but it worked great for my greddy unit. I'd recommend the Greddy FATT to anyone who only wants their turbo timer just to "turbo time," and doesn't want all of the other useless (in my opinion) features.

I searched, there's about a billion results, so I'm just gonna ask: what exactly does a turbo timer do? I know it keeps the car on when the keys out or something like that, but why?

so you dont have to wait in the car to let the turbo cool down properly.

got a blitz FATT DCII
works great, has about 5 fuzzy-logic presets
and manual presets
also other stuff like voltage, temp, timer.....and so on.

what i like about it is that the brain is a seperate box that u can mount anywhere under the dash, then run the display (which is nice and thin) and use sticky tape to mount it anywhere u like.

this is what it looks like mounted:

ive had no problems with my greddy full auto TT.
it comes with two preset countdown times, and two auto countdowns that estimate the time the car should stay on by your driving speed/time; all adjustable. also it has a battery voltage meter, time attack modes, stopwatch/lap times, and a speedometer.

alot of the stuff will probably never get used, but hey, its there to be fiddled with on a boring day. pretty cheap too...even comes with double sided tape for mounting. :D

I have been using the Blitz TT/boost gauge for about a year, and I have been very happy with it.

I think any tt is waste of money. Just sit in your car for a minute. It's free, and there is no installation required!

I think it's a good failsafe for your turbo, plus, quite often I'm in a hurry to go places, and an extra minute the car is a minute too long. Its a minute I use now anyway cuz I care more about my car than other things, but, as soon as I get my GReddy in the mail, goodbye waiting in the car. And msdpfreak, I used to think like you too, then I got tired of waiting.

It's cool, I just don't think a minute listening to the radio is as big a sacrifice as the cash for a tt. Plus all the hassles with the alarm arming I've read about here. And if I park on a hill I like to know I'm in gear as well as have my e-brake on.

...plus you can mount it in the pocket under the radio with our R1 product (http://www.03msp.com/products.htm) for that OEM look.
