Which Performance Summer tires to get?

Kook V12s! Fantastic tire. Better then OEM IMO. There's plenty of reviews on them in pretty much any forum including this one, plus Tire Rack and Discount Tire.

Tires

Went to the track, (Infineon) with my 2/32s tread depth OEM Bridgestone Potenzas, all with even wear. Another MS3 was there with a set of Dunlop Direzza Star Specs. We switched wheels and I went on track for a couple of30 minute sessions. WOW! What a tire! It heated up fast, grip was great and traction was incredible. There was little to no tire scrub/screeching around corners. These tires gave me alot of confidence. I did'nt think I could run this tire size, (225/40/18), based on previous threads from this forum, but he said he has had no problems and did'nt roll the fender lips either. (cool)

seems like to me its all based on prefrence. I dont think you will really know wat you want until you get a pair and see how they do.

I just ordered a set of the Hankook V12's from OnlineTires, and i can't wait to get them on and get the bridgestones off..I hope they live up to all the hype! I don't need anything more then that because I don't autocross anymore..:( I also just got back on Online tires and it shows a $50. rebate on the hankooks...offer is from April 1st to May 31st.

Hankooks

I made my decision based upon the July 2009 review above and went with the Hankook Ventus V12 Evos. The tirerack.com price was $119 each and Big O installed them for $110, including mounting, stems, balance and nitrogen. I also used their $50 off coupon for installation for a four tire purchase. So just under $600 with tax, warranty and diposal fees.

I tracked these tires at Infineon Raceway last week and they felt smooth with crisp turn in and very responsive hard braking, just like the review. The road/track noise is excellent compared to my OEM Potenzas.

I also considered the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs but they were not available in the OEM, 215/45/18 size. They were for sale at about $140 each in the 225/40/18 size but I didnt feel comfortable with this tire size on a 7 inch wide rim. (drive)

I'm currently on my second set of Direzza Z1. I love these tires. I drive hard, really hard. I got slightly under 10,000 miles / 10 months out of my first set but they are so worth it. They have great grip and are very progressive tires. The only reason i got new ones was because i had three people in one day point out my tires were bald. And even then the tires still gripped really well. This is the best bang for the buck.
My setup:
- Stock wheel
- 225 45 18
- Stock Springs
- Hotchkis Front and Rear swaybars

Only 10K miles? Do you rotate regularly? You should be able to get more miles out of these. I drive HARD TOO, all the time and got 20K miles out of my first set, with some autoxing as well. I agree this is a great tire.

Agree on the size issue running stock size rim, run the 225/45 they work really well with stock rims, at least for me. Never rubbed on these, I also never have passengers in the rear. Some have said they rub with a full load, but not an issue for me. Now that I have my Koni yellows on the car I feel like I have a new ride. So much FIRMER and less travel than the stock struts and with the Star Spec's it's a great combo...

If I would put the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs in 225/40/18 with the stock wheels...would I have more or less of a gap from the wheel to the fender..?? Im on H&R springs and have like a 2 finger length gap...im also really interested in these tires also..

Or should I get 225/45/18? Or 235/40/18?? Would I rub alot with these sizes?
