you know whats funny about KaZaA and all those other P2P download programs, the farthest they can go legally into monitoring what you have on your computer, is what is inside your "my shared folder" just take everything out, put it in a different folder..and thats it..thats all there is to it...then, if you get sued...they would of had to "hack" into your computer to view those files..
I think a lot of it is hype and scare tactics...And I think they're going more after the big file sharers...like those that have tons of gigabytes of music...and if they do crack down on Kazaa and other P2P programs, there's always IRC...
by the time they trace my Ip, find out who I am and where I live, and get a lawyer, they will have probably spent more $$$ than what they could sue me for
actually no they didn't settle on a written apology, that 12 year old girl goes to my church in danbury, ct. they settled on 2,000$ of the illedged 50,000$ from the orginal claim. the RIAA is the face of evil
The music industry as a whole needs to wake the hell up and make the product marketable again. It's crap and hasn't been all that great for a while. The product has not kept up with the times and until that changes I agree, **** THE RIAA. P.S. I don't use p2p servers because they are a virus waiting to happen nor do I file share. I think when it comes to software, don't steal. When it comes to music, I say good luck to all of you and don't get caught. $20.00 for a cd my ass. Coorperate clowns should loose like all businesses when the product stinks and they are trying to find a way to keep from loosing when they have marketed and planned poorly. This isn't about protecting art. This is about protecting 401k's of a few CEO's and washed up soft metal bands that will remain unnamed.
am i the only one who doesnt give a **** if they sued a 12 yr old girl? who gives a **** how old she is? If she STOLE something she can be held accountable just like anyone else. 12 yr olds have been charged as adults for murder and given life sentances, why the **** cant they be charged with piracy?
