You don't know how nasty lithium fires, and their fumes can be apparently. As a bonus, it reacts violently to water. Gasoline car fires usually don't behave like thermite on crack.

Meh, I'd rather take that same engine but with RWD and a manual in the better handling, more efficient, faster and better looking G37. I dont see the purpose of crossovers and SUV's.

a two door is useless for anyone. I meant the G37 sedan (although the coupe is a very nice looking car)
I'm sure a station wagon or hatchback would provide the space you need, but at least you're keeping it reasonable and not buying massive SUV's.
I just dont understand those people that buy trucks/SUV's yet the car sees no mud, no utility, nothing. just takes up space on the road and wastes our gasoline.

A sedan is almost near useless to me as well. But I don't think the G37 is as good looking as the QX either. Yeah, the fender vents are ugly, but I don't care anymore.
I had a 2014 Mazda 3 HB, and dumped it after just 16 months. Too small, too noisy, etc.
There isn't a single wagon offered in the US on the road today I would buy, because the only ones I kind of like are German... and I have no interest in going down that road. Volvos are nice, but don't really want one at the moment either. But the new XC60 looks good.
Don't take this the wrong way, but you come across as being very young. You've used inclusive pronouns when describing your dad's 6, so I'm thinking you might still live at home? I've had everything from a Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4 to a 4-Runner. Over time I've learned what I need in my life. My 500 ft driveway can also get a bit rough in the winter months. Crossovers and SUVs are what we prefer for their drivetrains and utility space.

Facts remain, there are multiple cases of teslas bursting into flame and either killing the occupant, or completely destroying the car and being very difficult to extinguish. Readily found with a simple Google search. So far, dislike being much more prolific on the roads, I have yet to see a single incident of a fatal vehicle fire involving a cx5...

How many explosions have their been in electric or hybrid cars? How many fires in normal gas cars? I have no idea about the answer either, so I am interested in knowing. But I would guess that once upon a time, I bet people said,"...have you seen those engines things? I am sticking with my horse and buggy!"
Also you can say anything you want - truth does not matter - can be stupid or smart -on these boards. So, with that in mind, no one should come here looking for any real useful information on their Mazda.

Agree. I've always been a hatchback wagon guy. Agree with poster that said no one makes a wagon I'd buy today. Volvos hatchback had no space in the hatch...wonder why that went under. Volvos wagon is ok, bit expensive new.
I just moved a treadmill to my sister's house in my CUV. Try that in a Sedan.

Yes, but I'm willing it bet those gas car fires include clapped out junkers from the 80s with all sorts of redneck makeshift repairs too. Every Tesla is pretty much pristine.

I'm inclined to agree. Modern vehicles rarely catch fire and if they do, with very few exceptions, it is due to an external influence - i.e. Somebody modifying it in some way or grass or paper stuck to the exhaust or the despicable habit of smoking.
I like your logic...I actually bought a 2017 CX9 signature in January and so far so good but I didn't come from a CX5 but from an XC60. I actually cross shopped XC90, RX350 and MDX but the 9 was just comparable in fit, finish, tech & luxuries not to mention good fuel economy and most of all thousands of dollars less and the design was also stellar. Glad I made that decision...I know folks who bought the MDX and while it's nice they complained about the fuel economy, only use premium gas and the cost right away. Their MDX was $15-20K more than my 9...we both have 4yr terms but when I am done with payments after 4yrs then I own the vehicle. The other folks after 4yrs still have $30K option to buy otherwise they give it back. Ouch....

But here we are ALSO talking about a Tesla X, which starts at 70 thousand plus...makes no sense. IF you wanted the Tesla, and it was obtainable, how the HELL did you end up in a CX5, is my question, lol! It's like saying "You know, I'm not sure if I'll have the steak, or the ribs. Oh screw it, I'll just eat the complimentary peppermint and leave!"

Model X is 100+ not 70. He did not cross shop tesla and CX-5. He said he would be getting it in 2-3 years. So assuming his family has grown and also he is willing to spend more on a Tesla product.
The thing about people who worship (not simply own) Tesla/Apple products is that it's almost a cult. I have seen folks with the latest iPhone suggesting CiCis pizza for lunch cause it's cheap. And at times the lady ahead of you price matching a pack of gums at local grocery in SoCal might own a Tesla. You are better off buying a Yaris instead of Tesla if you love environment- but it's not about environment. A Chevy Volt is faar better than Tesla for environment.
