Where can I get motor mount installed?

Hey,

So I've been wanting to order the TRZ Motor Mount for a while now. But I live in a apartment complex, and I also don't have the tools and stuff to install it by myself. Where can I go to get it installed? And how much will it cost me? There're a few auto body shops around, but I'm not sure if they do anything like this.

its easy enough that it could be installed during an oil change. if you trust those people to do it, you could go that route.

I went to a Midas autoservice and it was quite expensive for such a simple job (lift the car and unscrew some bolts) so I went to a local mechanic and he did it for 30 bucks.

thats a pretty fair price. its really not more than five minutes worth of work once the car is in the air.

guys I just installed my mount 2 days ago ... literally took me 5 mins ...

it took me more time to jack the 2 wheels up then it did to replace the mount

undo 2 bolts .. wiggle mount out (came out effortlessly) ... put loctite blue on bolts .. put new motor mount in (my new mount when in easier then the old one came out) .. tighten 2 bolts... and lower car

I couldnt believe how easy it was ...

there is no way anyone should be paying to have this done .. not even 5 dollars

BTW - thanks ken for the mount :)

i"m glad it is so easy, i am about to order one myself, any recomendations on brand? also, will wheel ramps be enough to get under the engine to do the swap?

Wheel ramps will be just fine. Easier that jack & stands. Safer too.

The TRZ has to be the easiest mount to install because of its size, entire job took me 15min. the CS inserts on the other hand are a huge pain in the ass comparatively.

Yeah, Matt helped install my CS inserts on the stock motor mount. Being that the stock mount is now thicker due to the inserts, it makes the job a lot more difficult.

The TRZ poly looks smaller in size to the stock motor mount, so I can see how it would go right in no problem.

How much do wheel ramps cost? Because I'm deciding whether I should just buy the tools and do it myself, instead of pay the $30 some dollars for someone else to do it.

You're lucky Midas didn't charge you for the space you occupied in their parking lot.

my car won't clear my ramps that I own. I was able to do it, by pulling the car up on 2 bricks one for each wheel. I'm also only weigh 160lbs a big guy might need the ramps

I've seen a couple plastic ramps at a walmart or someplace similar for $40-60, hopefully they have the proper angle for our bumpers to clear

Thats why I used jack stands. I know people with lifts too so that would have made things a lot easier.

Rhino Ramps are ~$35 from your local VatoZone/Crap Boys/etc. Like most people, the rubber lip up front won't clear the incline, so I roll up on a couple of 2"x8" boards first, then on the ramps.

I remeber seeing this lift on Trucks a few years ago that was like one of the formula 1 lifts (as in it lifts the whole front or back of the car up just pulling the handle to the floor) but could lift a small truck. It was a cool tool I wish i could google real quick and show ya'll.

I find it hard to beleive our front clips would hold the weight with a tool like that. Also, the ammount of leverage you would need to lift the front of a 3,000 lb car would be a lot, F1 cars are half the weight of ours and designed for that lift.

Oh, I have those rhino ramps, no problems driving up on them. I have the AWR and took 10 min. to swap out. Cheap, easy and a huge benefit.

i bought a 30 dollar jack set with 2 stands(clearance deal or something), jacked my car up put it on stands then did it myself. if u dont have the tools. buy a cheap rachet set, every man should have one.
