if you know so mutch about hondas....why did you even bother then w/ a d series engine? if you do anything to a honda u get a B16 or a B18c1/5, h22.
and why did you blow your engine?overboosting? ive personlay seen D serice engines on the streets w/ 320WHP as daily drivers and on low boost and like 480 on high boost and race gas. any honda engine should be able to have 300+ WHP if its built corectly and has the good engine managment(hondata300). if you blew your engine its due to the lack of tuning or it wasnt built to hold the boost you where runing in it?
also if you want an EK look in auto trader and buy one from a grandma that has less then 50K....get a b18c5, LS tranny,LSD and you have a car w/ 200 NA WHP and weighs nothing....that 200WHP is after u put 2-3K into the engine...and youl have a mid to low 13 sec. car. for about 8-10K.

and why is everyone cought up on the 240 having a truck engine...its only in there becouse nissas couldnt put the SR20det into it for emition reasons...but if the K24 bothers u so mutch you could get 2K and buy a SR20DET and swap it in yourself for less then $200. or if your a pussy you can have a shop do it for a grand or two.

Why did I do a sohc? Because it was different. I've never seen a sohc daily driver with 480whp, you're simply full of poop. I'm sure you'll dig up a link of some guy, somewhere, pulling it off. It is far from common place. Stock internals on a D series take about 220 hp, after that they need to be built. My motor blew because I was running 11psi on a 5:1 FMU with stock injectors. The car was my daily driver and ran beautifully for a year and two months. I started boosting at 129,000 miles and it blew at 178,000. I beat the s*** out of that car everyday. The last few months I had the car, I got bored and advanced the timing all the way. It was a freaking torque monster. Sure, it was going to blow up, but who cares? A d series block was $100 and it took us about 2-3 days to replace it. Remember, this was a JRSC kit, not intercooled, not tuned. And it STILL ran for a year. Total cost in mods, about $1500....for 14's...and still got 42 mpg...

Your response to an EK was a waste of typing. It isn't a NEW car. Remember, not only do i have to finance the car, I'd have to finanace the motor swap and mods. That doesn't make any sense...at all. And an SR20 for $200?! Again, you must live on a different planet. As for an EK being light? Heh, not really.

That's pretty misleading. So for $200 (or is it $300) I will NOT have everything for the swap? So basically for $200 I can put the motor in my driveway, straddle it like a cow and rock side to side going "DRIFTO!!!"

I dicked around with my friends sr20 cars but I never actually owned one of my own so I couldn't tell you the lowest price. The only thing I can tell you is that you could get the block, with ecu and wiring harness for 300. The motor is case was a replacement, as mentioned earlier to motor was blown, so all it was a direct replacement. Your not gonna need more than that.

Kind of like how you said you could get a D series motor replaced for 100 bucks. I understand thats for the motor. If I blew the d16 in my del sol I'm not gonna be taking it to the nearest dealer and asking if 100 bucks is gonna cover the motor, labor, and testing.

The good news is the rwd variant which has same head, internals, etc etc are easy to come by also. The g20 did also come with sr20 and the SER's came with them up until 98. To be honest though the sr20 was kind of a dog n/a.

Maybe its the same reason you did the d series motor... to be different. Also a lot of people don't have the know-how to do something like this. Another angle is studies have also shown that most people don't have a big undertaking like that in mind when they first start modding there car. Most say ok, I want an intake and thats it... its not that expensive so I'll do it. a little bit later they want an exhuast too, then later on cams, then turbo and get to the point where a swap would be not be cost effective at all. Also I had a b18 in a 5th gen civic ex. It wasn't even close to 2500 bucks to get the motor in the car, and labor we didn't pay for because we did it ourself. The block we got for 400 bucks out of a wrecked integra in full working order. I'm talking just getting the motor in the car, with stock mounts, do it yourself, no turbos, just getting the thing to sit in the car and fire... it could be done for far less than 2500. Theres even a guy that made a twin turbo civic for less than 2000 bucks, motor and everything. Albeit he already had the pistons/rods and turbos.

I agree, also I edited the my quote you just used, so it wouldn't sound wrong the way the first 2 sentences are linked. It sort of implied that you don't have the know-how which is not what i meant to imply. With that said you figure is dead on accurate for labor and those 'extra' parts. We didn't have the a/c, smog equipement, or non-motor essentials. It just wasn't in the cards for what we wanted to do, plus it wasn't a daily driver.

not its not misleading unless yur a dumb s***....Its the same as people who put turbos on ebay and talk about how you can use it on everything from a neon to a protege to an accord. Of course you can, AFTER you spend another $1500 on the rest of the aprts you need.
