I don't know much about Mazdas, I'm a Honda guy. The P5 was a great compromise between a truck and a car. Great for me to finish my last year of college with.
if your a honda guy why do you own a mazda...a hatchback does the same s*** a p5 can do

Where can I buy a new hatch? Is there a honda lot somewhere still selling a nice NEW ek I can buy? Also, the 6th gen hatches had no power options, no sunroof, rear drums and a D16Y7. Sorry, I've done my time with D series motors, been there, boosted it, blew it up, bought a t-shirt.
 
Those 1st gen Tiburons are about as tacky as vehicles can get for the price range...the lines are painful to look at.

And base model lancers make a nice sedative.

Werd, not sure how I'm a ricer because I don't like 240's. Sorry but i paid my dues. Look at some of my older posts. Find the one about my old civic. Not much, but it was all done by me and on a college budget. Looked bone stock.
 
and also some us arent trying to be king of the road. i get compliments everywhere i go on my car, and i can still beat those ricer 240s (yet to personally see an uber nice or fast one). my friend had one before his supra. that thing was a piece of s*** and it only had 70k miles.
 
The CRX I saw at my sisters graduation this weekend. It had no hood, just an open engine bay with some neon lights. Loud as hell, but the best part was that both sides had RICE spray painted on them.

ya know, the newest civics with the new headlights always confuse me...

Every time I catch a glimpse of one in a passing glance I think its a P5, then look abck and realize its a civic...the headlights are very similar.

this is one of the things my wife loved about it cuz she loves my headlights. not to menton her awesome titanium color.
 
the pr5 can be fast...you just have to patient and built it right...a good turbo kit with a decent driver will not grenade the notoriously fragile trannies...if you are still hesitant then for $1300 get an msp tranny with slightly stronger shift forks, lsd, and $200 for better axles

240 is a quick car but came with a engine built for towing...$2k later and it is a great sports car with the sr20

it looks like a lot of ricers now own mazdas...based on some of the embarassing proteges and now 3s i see flying around weaving in and out of traffic
 
ricers know no boundaries as far as ******* up certain car makes. we have RID's on this forum (ricers in denial)
 
yea, we sure do. flames on the side of their cars, etc etc. there will be ricers everywhere. somewhere i saw a picture of a corvette with rice spoiler on it (dunno)
 
if you know so mutch about hondas....why did you even bother then w/ a d series engine? if you do anything to a honda u get a B16 or a B18c1/5, h22.
and why did you blow your engine?overboosting? ive personlay seen D serice engines on the streets w/ 320WHP as daily drivers and on low boost and like 480 on high boost and race gas. any honda engine should be able to have 300+ WHP if its built corectly and has the good engine managment(hondata300). if you blew your engine its due to the lack of tuning or it wasnt built to hold the boost you where runing in it?
also if you want an EK look in auto trader and buy one from a grandma that has less then 50K....get a b18c5, LS tranny,LSD and you have a car w/ 200 NA WHP and weighs nothing....that 200WHP is after u put 2-3K into the engine...and youl have a mid to low 13 sec. car. for about 8-10K.

and why is everyone cought up on the 240 having a truck engine...its only in there becouse nissas couldnt put the SR20det into it for emition reasons...but if the K24 bothers u so mutch you could get 2K and buy a SR20DET and swap it in yourself for less then $200. or if your a pussy you can have a shop do it for a grand or two.

yeah the MP5 can maby have 300hp w/ the new tranny or even more if you take care of the tranny and drive it softly/not going thru gears as fast as you can. but if you go to autoX it will be over real soon. unless you want to spend 5K and get coustom dogbox or something. there just isnt that mutch aftermarket suport for the protege line after you start diggind into the actual mechanics.

i don't disagree that the tranny has its limits...but at 300hp in a fwd car it becomes undriveable around slow corners...even with an lsd...these cars are pretty heavy...a normal loaded pr5 (sunroof, etc.) weighs in around 2900lbs getting close to 3000 (i corner weighted my car so this is accurate)

the d series can make a lot of power being a sohc engine...there are guys running 200hp n/a out of those motors daily driving...i've seen 300+ on some built ones with forced induction...the zc (dohc) can usually add 20-30 hp more... a d series is not a weak engine either...another advantage to the sohc is its really light reducing front end weight, oversteer and increasing car balance (dohc heads weigh much more than sohc and more so over ohv)

god finaly someone that knows what they are talking about.... yeah in autoX people that are competetive will use the SOHC due to less weight....but i still whould rather have a DOHC...(gossip)
 
Well I've done civics and they are a great platform to work with. The protege compared to the civic platform is competetive in that the chasis is much stiffer, but its easier to get a honda to move fast than our protege. I don't know why everyone trashes the 240, sure it had a truck motor but its a very stout motor. We have a household 1990 nissan pickup with the k24, 225k miles original motor and still running strong, doesnt even leak oil and all cylinders have good compression. Kind of tells you something about nissan and overbuilt motors. The k24 was also a good platform for a turbo, not as good as the sr20 but the only sr20s we got over here were unboosted.

Cavalier z24

in my opinion the worst sport compact car is probably something like the cavalier z24. my definition of SPORT compact car is a car that is suppose to be the pocket rocket of the lineup, ie civic si, cavalier z24, svt focus, ralliart, spec v, mazdaspeed and mp3 so on and so forth. Keeping that definition in mind I think the cavalier wins the award. Lousy and extremely harsh motor, chasis made from licorice whips, interior by fisher-price, pisspoor styling, and mediocre performance. Hardly a winning combination if you ask me.
 
notorious ur the s***...now why cant people be like the last 2 ppl....know more then just about 1 car they like and 50 things about other cars they dont like, for weak reasons



i whould trade my MP5 for a S13 w/ SR20DET in a hearbeat
