What would you have gotten?

Was the Protege5 your first choice when you bought your car? What did you want to get or what would you get if you could go back and do it all over again?

yea it was and it is the best piston car i have ever owned ( not counting my 7's) 73,000 miles w/o any problems

If I could go back to that same moment and same situation I would've picked the same car, of course :D

P5 was first choice in my line of possibilities.

Hmmm...I wanted a factory ordered Focus ZX5 with heated mirrors and seats, but they couldn't get one for me within the rebate timeframe. P5 was my second choice -- it was more expensive than the ZX5, but won out because it had more cargo room and came with ABS. I refuse to buy a car with ABS -- it's saved my stupid ass too many times.

The Ford dealer offered me their red SVT 5-door, but he couldn't touch the payment I wanted. And SVT's are pretty unreliable. I read too many horror stories on various Focus forums while I owned my previous car (2001 Focus ZTS).

All in all, the P5 was the car my soul wanted, my wallet wanted the ZX5. Guess which won out???

Oh, and during the P5 test drive, my wife turns on the radio...out comes, "God demands it!" from a Christian station. I immediately turned off the radio and said to her, "That's a good sign."

Well I origionally was going between the 50th anniversary VW GTI and the Speed. I was turned off by the price tags on both. The supped up stereo's in both didn't seem so great, but I definately wanted something sporty because my 94 Sentra with 128,000 miles was about to s*** the bed. I decided on the P5 and have been able build a sweet car my way with a kick ass stereo, engine mods, and total customization for the same price: $13,500 for the car + $4,500 in mods. No I don't have 220 hp or leather seats but chicks dig the P5 and that's all that matters(butthump)

The ZX5 was my first choice, then came an 03 Black Civic 4D. The protege5 was my last of the 3, but of course I ended up with the PR5. The Civic I was going to get for $12,000 and was ready to sign for it, but I wanted to check around one last time. I don't regret my choice of course.

i wanted to get a gti. . but was out of price. . ..the mazda was the second choice. . but probably better off in the end

I would have gotten the same car but with a manual transmission instead. :(

My choices were the Acura 1.7 EL or the P5. I didn't really like the 1.7 EL cuz it's just an overpriced civic with an acura emblem.

I would have purchased a ProtegeSpeed but they were tough to find along with getting good deal on it.....

I like my Protege 5 a lot, but am always looking for another car......Drove a 05' S40 today and really liked it. I am losing a lot on my P5 though.....i can get a pretty good deal with the X-plan when buying volvos, mazdas and other cars.

We will see......????

I like my Pro5. A lot. It was the best car in its class when I bought it, and it's still better than most small wagons on the market. But...

...don't get me started on what else I'd like to drive.

Well alright. I toyed around with the idea of buying and driving most of these cars before I bought the Pro5.

I could've done with a nice VW notchback, with a nicely built 2 liter motor. 68 Mustang fastback. 66 Chevy II. 70 Camaro with a built but streetable 302.

Can you tell I need some power with my cars?

My first choice was a Subaru Legacy GT 1999 manual tranny black with black leather seats. I looked and looked for one, but they are so hard to find low mileage. I went on autotrader.com and looked through every model of car on there and the only ones that I could consider were the Legacy GT, the Impreza 2.5RS, and the Protege5. I'm happy that I didn't get the Subaru's, because they were both designs from 1993 or so just updated.

I would have gotten a Focus...but I already had one. ;)

I was originally looking for a used Contour SVT. But after reading of engine issues (oil starvation on cornering), I figured I'd look for something else. I owned an Escort previously and liked the car overall, so I decided to look for an Escort LX-E (sedan with the BP). Long story short, I decided to go for a new car. I knew a little bit about the MP3 and current Mazda lineup so I decided to stop by a Mazda dealership and instantly fell in love with the P5. So here I am today with the P5 (and a few other cars added to the line-upsince then, heh). :-D

I have no complaints about the P5 whatsoever.

Wanted a used Passat wagon 5-speed but had a hard time finding one close by. Put in several offers on a 2001 Passat sedan 5-speed but the dealer didn't want to deal that much. The P5 was my second choice but I don't regret getting it at all. VW's are so expensive to fix that I probably did better off getting the Mazda. Miss the power of the turbo 4 in the Passat though.

I would have got the same. I orginally went to Mazda to check out the Tribute and ended up leaving with the P5. If the MSP had been available at that time, I would have probably picked that up instead.

My first choice was a Jetta, Corolla S, and finally the P5. Ended up getting the P5 of course and love it.

the cars that were in my price range at the time were , the tiburon, the lancer oz rally, SER-spec V, and the celica. the tiburon was just nice lookin my buddy has one but wen im inside i feel like everything is plastic and breakble, the lancer was a nicer looking car yet it only had 120hp and 15"rimz, the sentra spec V was fast, good handling and 17" rimz, but it looked like an old persons car, and the celica, well i just couldnt fit im way to big for it, id have to take out the back seat. if i could go back id either chose the p5, or the mazdaspeed, i love my car!
