What Turbo Timer to get?

Are they faily difficult to install? Would I say, pay a mechanic to install one for me?

Installing a turbo timer is pretty easy. I figured it out. Now getting your factory alarm to work with it or an aftermarket alarm is a different story. (the factory alarm will not arm while the turbo timer is on)

I guess there are a couple of ways to work around this, but I had an aftermarket alarm/autostart put in my car right after I installed the turbo timer so I didn't worry about it.

Do a couple of searches and you should find plenty of advice on the install. Someone on here did a nice how-to using a blitz (I think) turbo timer on their personal site. Some of it was the same for my HKS, for the rest of it I found a post that stated which wires to tap.

Well I heard the Apexi is hard becasue of the Air/fuel ratio censors that has to be hooked up to the ECU. I also heard the A/F censor is inaccurate because of ECU problems/emissions. HKS and Greddy turbo timers I heard were easy...although Dexter was right...no one makes turbo timer harness for speed protege. But I also think the Apexi is the nicest one cus its slim and the size of a pen...I could easy mount it on my dash or steering column.

Simple, most people's drivivng style doesn't require it.
As long as you don't use boost 30 seconds before turning off the car, there's no issue.

I for one never use boost while driving the 2 minutes through my neighborhood on the way home or atleast a minutes through the streets to get to work. Even if you stop at a rest stop off the highway, ususaly yolur slowing down for 15 second and by the time your ready to get out 30 seconds has past.

Unless you are really boosting hard there is no reason to wait more then 30 seconds after using boost.

New to turbos here, so please explain how do you not go into boost? Just don't gas it as much? I guess you need a boost gauge for that.

yes, basically. just give it a little gas and you will stay out of boost. you don't need a boost gauge, just don't give it a lot of gas

Just drive half intelligently wen approaching your destination and a TT is totaly useless. By the time you go through a few small parking lots or 35 mph roads by your house, your turbo has cooled donw plenty and the hot oil has circulated.

Question: Has the tt issue about not being able to set your alarm been resolved? I have searched for about an hour now and all the post leading to the subject says that it was resolved, but I have yet to find that final resolving post. Can anyone help if they know off hand?

Thanks

I think I remember Greg S posting it or commenting on it atleast. Try searching his user name witho your search

Back to the main topic.

Yes, it is possible to have both the turbo timer and the alarm work. You just have to make sure the turbo timer's connections to the ignition wires are down line from the alarms and then Isolate them from the front half of the ignition lines with relays while the timer is running. I've done it 5 or 6 times over the years and it works perfectly. This is assuming you have an aftermarket alarm and not a foctory one. Though with the factory the same rule applies just you have to do the wiring out in the engine compartment to make sure you are down line form the alarm components.
