What should be my next mod

My goal is to get the most out of my engine before i get a turbo. The only engine mods i have are, cai, headers, exhaust. What should be my next step?

those are 3 mods that are useless for a turbo application. CAI gets chucked, as well as the header, and you'll want 3" exhaust with your turbo.

But if you want to go the turbo route, get a stand alone computer, with larger injectors. You'll only see 10-15hp with your current set-up, but it'll allow you to tune every mod later on.

Curious though. Why did you post this question in the NA section? Every mod you do NA, contradicts the mods you'll want to do FI.....

cause its gonna take me a very long time to get the turbo. (im talking a while) and while i wait i want to do what i can to get as much gain from the engine as i can.And i bought the car with the cai and exhaust. Why do the headers get chucked?

A turbo is attatched to a "header" of sorts. Look at a diagram of a turbo setup....In a turbo car it's called a turbo manifold. If you don't understand why the NA header has to be removed, you have a TON of reading to do...

guess i do, i didnt know that. I was gonna save up for a turbo ( evantually, farthest thing from my mind right now) But screw chucking parts. Thanks for the lesson. So what should i do now cams?

before the intake manifold get some custom ground cams and cam gears. maybe a UDP or flywheel for low end torque and 1st gr power.

The intake manifold you will only want to go aftermarket with if you plan on working on the flow characteristics of the head and exhaust also. Obviously the header took care of the exhaust side of things but make sure if you get an IM the specs are matched to what you plan with the head and cams.

rigth now I have my header odered, next are cams and cam gears and then head and IM work. through a UDP in there somewhere for good measure =)

i dont know where to start to look for cams. And i know nothing about em....If im looking to race my car in the 1/4 evantually what sorta cams should i look into

Depends do you want it to be a daily driver or race car???

I'd spray a little.

Wet kit.
Too risky if anything I would use a "sneaky pete system" and even then I would be a little scared but yeah def wet kit if anything and a lot of fuel tunning as well as upgrading your whole fuel sytem.

Nitrous Oxide Tech
Discuss ways to blow your engine with N20.

(lol) J/K

its a daily driver, but i dont care to much about that. I dont drive my car during the winter and i take public transportation to work.

Well then if you want to get the most out of cams you can get wangers N/A stage III aggressive race cams but then you will need titanium valve springs and probably EMS to make the most power out of them. I would suggest getting the stage II N/A cams once I get enough money I will be getting these since they are mild compared to the stage III's

Now even w/ cams, what works for NA doesnt necessarily work with FI. I would say get the pulley, beef up the tranny and get the turbo. The rest of the stuff is unnecessary and probably a waste of money. An ems would be good too.

FI cams will be good if you plan on going turbo very soon, if not than an EMS is not a bad option either as it can help fix our bad ecu's and actually help increase HP with every little thing you do.
