What psi are you all running on your car now that warmer weather is here?

Also what psi in the winter. I somehow feel that my tire is flat looking. I put the recommended amount in according to the car manual. So it is a little odd. What do you all think?

ahhhh Christ... I don't even want to get started- but, the manual says 32 and 29, if ya want to run a little high or low depending on weather or application (ie strip or ATX) go for it. 50psi is the MAX the tire can hold. You run 50 in those tires don't expect to get more than 5000 miles out of em'(not to mention quite a bang if one blows). If you don't believe me, check Dunlop's site. I quoted it once before on another thread and it basically said to run "manufacturer's suggested psi". Same goes for all factory equipped tires. They give you a manual for a reason- READ IT!

Sorry DC6- uh, I run 35 and 31 in the winter, and 33-30 in the summer. Just the way I like it... and RAGE, if you were trying to be funny, sorry for taking it so seriously... my bad!

Actually the reason I can't read it is because I don't have the tire brochure that comes with the car..it has somehow mysteriously vanished since I bought my car...(I have been guesstimating the pressure based on the tire so far) I was in doubt as to what is really specified for my car..for the manual that I have is for the ES not the MP3.

I'm pretty sure the manual is the same for all of them... I thought I had the ES manual as well, but then, when I looked in the back at trim levels (I was looking for tire pressure specifically) they list our Dunlops- which are only factory standard on the MP3.
Hope this helps-

OK IF YOU SAY SO! LETS SEE BEEN THROUGH TWO TIRES DUE TO LOW PSI. SIDE WALLS SHREDED ON BOTH SO DO WHAT YOU WANT, ITS YOUR MONEY NOT MINE!

The pressure on the side of the tire is max tire pressure, no matter what. The pressure in the manual takes in to account the weight of the MP3 and other vehicle specific info. Dunlop doesn't know what car is going to be on the tire so why would you set the pressure to something that they cannot predict??? Use what Mazda tells you not the 50 psi max.

mine were about 30-35 or so. Now I have my snow tires on so thats different.

RAGE- I'M SO SORRY FOR BEING STUPID!! I CAN'T HELP IT THOUGH. I HAVE A BAD HABIT OF READING BOOKS AND STUFF...

AND BY THE WAY, I THINK YOU HAVE THAT BACKWARDS- BECAUSE I HAVE 12,000 MILES ON MY CAR, JUST ROTATED MY TIRES FOR THE SECOND TIME (wear is even, and Lincoln ain't even close to smiling at me), AND YOU ARE THE ONE THAT HAS DISHED OUT THE CASH FOR TWO NEW TIRES ALREADY!!

ok first of all our tires may be put on from the factory BUT they are performance tires. your tread on the outside WILL wear out very fast if you run that low of pressure on performance tires. the manual says 33 or whatever it is because it is to the specs of the Protege 16" wheels not Racing Hart 17" wheels with Dunlop SP9000 High performance tires. and yes if you run 50 psi in your tires they will also wear out fast. i run around 42 psi in my tires.
and no one try to give me s*** b/c this has been talked about before and i was getting flamed. I work at a friggn tire company and i deal with this stuff everyday.
also if you run 30 or below that if you hit a pot hole your wheel will be ****** and you will be more in the hole b/c you will have to buy a new wheel along with a new tire.
and im not trying to be a piss ant with this post i am just posting with what i work with every day. if you dont want to listen to me then thats fine its your car its your money.

Well, I won't argue or flame anybody but RAGE on this post. As far as tire inflation goes there is only one right answer for each person- unless of course it is the exact same temperature in OH, TX, CA, Canada, etc etc. I'll stick w/ the experts...
Here is my source of info: http://www.dunloptire.com/tiretech/Welcome.html?article=inflation_pressure.txt
It's a good read, very informative.
Also, my primary point of listing this article is the drastic affect that temperature has on psi.

OH, almost forgot, MY manual has a sticker placed over the printed tire inflation section in chapter 10, page 5. The last line in the 2.0 liter section reads as follows: 205/45ZR17 88W*1 Front: 220 (2.2,32) Rear 200 (2.0, 29)

*1 Only for Special Edition

laterz,

hey hittrix get a life! everyone is allowed
an opinion. you read what you want. but remember not all tire companies know what there talking about just look at firestone!

I give up, I have been completely defeated and no longer have a life. I agree w/ you about everyone being allowed to have an opinion, I never stated otherwise... I am posting my RESEARCH findings because a public forum is a good place to get both right AND wrong information. So which is it- should I trust the tire manufacturer or the pimply faced kid behind the counter at NTB. Take it w/ a grain of salt- the Firestone jab was a good one though... excluding the grammar.
FLAME ME- I love it!

i use to run 50, to rough for highway use for me (MO roads suck) and 30 was to low for me (i wasnt comfortable) i have been running 40 psi and have had no problems, even were and the tires are still good after 16,000 miles.
