what kind of damage may i have caused

That's only a flesh wound ;)
Everything looks good, but I'd still suggest taking it in for an alignment. I dunno if I missed something in one of the pics, I'm sure some1 else will chime in

wow, three p5's with similiar instances. Last weekend I had the same thing happen to me. I was taking a turn a bit too fast in the rain and the brakes locked up on me. damaged my control arm, endlink, wheel, and axle while trying to move it. It didnt turn out nearly as expensive since Im doing most of the work myself. I got the control arm and axle at a wrecking yard for 150 (75 each part). the endlink and wheel were purchased from forum members. The only thing will most likely need help with is the axle and of course the alignment when I am finished. all in all I think if spent about 220.

wow you dont know what a relief that is to hear lets see if anyone else finds something

I hit a curb because of snow once. It bent my rim, my lower control arm, my steering rod (slightly), and my strut (slightly). I replaced the lower control arm, the rim, and got it realigned. Your lower control arm doesn't really look messed up. Compare it with the other side, it might be twisted a little, more so if you hit it at an angle. I cannot tell from the pics. Look closely at the ends where the lower control arm connects to the strut. That's the weakest part and it will bend up and inward.

When you take it in for alignment, the mechanic will be able to tell you if anything is messed up. They typically see quite a few cases every winter. Wait, you live in CA, so maybe not :) Here in MN they do.

Anyway, as aMaff said, it looks like a flesh wound, nothing big. You might have to replace a bent part if the mechanic cannot align it the way it is... but they will probably be able to since they can adjust the strut on top some, and the steering rods can be adjusted as well.

I did the same thing in my old Honda, Control arm, endlinks all had to be replaced, thank god it was easily found in a Junkyard for dirt cheap, and i was able to DIY with some help saving me money from a garage working on it.

wow what a relief it is to hear the good news well i have an appointment for thurs to do an alignment lets see what happens

Just got my car back from the shop, got a souvenier ;). If your control arm looks like this, you may need more than an alignment (ugh) lol
