What kind of bad paint is Mazda using???

Yes I have one
I am so pissed. After less than two months of ownership I have several paint chips on the front bumper. Also there are stains all over the car from bugs and tar. They are into the paint because they have no texture. And swirl marks. Where the hell are they coming from. I wash and dry my car side to side always. Never use any circular motions. I have never had this happen on any car I have owned. In fact my previous car was two years old when I traded it in and the paint looked as good as the day I bought it. The paint on this car looks like a 1-2 year old car that is not very well taken care of. Not a brand new one. Is this just bad paint that mazda is using or is this something with foreign cars in general. This is rediculous. The car needs a damn claybar treatment already. No ******* way it should after two months.

ive been wondering how much it would cost to get a good clearcoat put on. shouldnt be too much since its clear, so no paint matching needed, and you wouldnt need to hit up the door jams or anything.

places like Macco do "cheap" paint jobs for like $250... so I'd assume that to clear coat it would be less... it would be worth looking in to.

look into the lexus clear coat. that thing is gelatinous, almost. it's very flexible and rubbery. instead of chipping, it flexes. of course, you can't get around big chips, but those little pebble chips everyone gets on their hoods and front bumpers will be severely cut down. i'll call the shop and ask how much something like that runs and what it's officially called tomorrow after i get off school.

Matthew, you dont have to worry about sneezing while washing the car, just turn your head to the side. See no paint chips! I know this much. As long as I intend to keep my car, I will be repainting it. And it will not be some cheap ass Macco paint job. My question is, can I get the Mazda Titanium color, but not the Mazda bad ass paint?

good question. but i dont think the problem lies in the paint itself, rather in the application of the paint.

So the paint and the clear coat is really that bad huh. Is this just on the Pro, or is it a Mazda thing?? This really does piss me off. A car that I have wanted since it was released has this problem. I am extremely anal about how clean my car looks, and apparently there is no way to keep it looking good w/o constant maintainence. Which unfortunantly I don't have the time for.

well unfortunately that is kinda the case. im going to look into getting a new clearcoat eventually

it might be my next mod after turbo depending on how it holds up between now and then

hey i have owned a bodyshop with my father for 6 years now and the paint they use is just cheap as hell not macco cheap but close if you were going to get a clear over it would cost you around between 600 and 1500 the reason for such a big diff is because the diff prices of clears and how much your going to have to put on macco uses shirman willams paint ya the house paint there crap is so thick it goes on with one coat but its so bad it will pill with in a year and you will be kicking the s*** out of your self for doing so the best pain out there is either sickens or ICI we use both for a gallon of ICI its 450 dollars paint work or body work runs at 65 dollars an hour to tottaly repaint a car your looking at 3500 dollars so you would figure half the work so half the price some times that works some times it dosnt oh and if you do go with ICI or sickens wich i highly recomend you get a life time warenty so if you ever do get a chip or it fades or cracks or anything like that you get it all done again for free if any body els has any other questions just ask =)

I take it your comma/period key is broken on your keyboard. :D

I think this has got to be my biggest complaint with this car. I've had mine for a year and the hood and front bumper have taken the brunt of the chips, of course. My plan is to repaint sometime down the road. Until then I guess I'll wax the s*** out of it and try my best to keep it clean.

My paint is fine after 2 years.

I find that my cars get chipped when tailgate too often or speed in the lane closest to th ecenter median where there is a lot of sand. Don't know if that's what you guys are doing.
