Good day folks,
This weekend I was hit by an old chevy/dodge truck, probably an 80's truck. It was a mid-sized truck with chrome bumper and it smacked my MSP in the rear at a yield sign. Yeah, the lady driver wasn't paying attention to the car ahead of hers and just went on forward. Didn't do much damage to the MSP, scuffed the rear bumper a bit (nothing bent), but her truck bumper was bent in pretty badly (I have to admit I enjoyed seeing her vehicle damaged more than mine).
None the less it was a hit (within 5 mph) that shook my car. After taking care of the situation I went back home and decided to check underneath the hood. Popped open the hood and noticed dark liquid splashed on the left side of the wheel well area. It looks like oil, but then I checked closer and the smell did not smell like oil. I'm not certain though. Nothing was leaking from the engine that I could see in that area. There was a good amount of it though and it dripped down to the bottom plastic undercover of the car.
For the life of me, I can't figure out where the source of the liquid is coming from. I checked oil, power steering fluid, windshield wiper fluid, brake fluid (completely different area under the hood), and even coolant (would be pretty bad if it was where the BLACK liquid was coming from). Nothing seemed to be leaking or damaged/broke.
There is this one circle piece that seemed to have the most liquid stains inside and outside/around it. It is located near the windshield wiper fluid and power steering fluid bottles. This where I would like to ask you guys... what is that round piece? Inside is rubbery. Unfortunately, I do not see anything hooked up to it that provides any liquid that flows to/from it. I do not know if it is busted inside or what... not sure what it's purpose is supposed to be.
I took a couple photos of it and if you can take a look at it and tell me what that is and if it has some kind of oil in it that may have come out of it after the car impact?
Thanks,
Allen
