Man, one of my buddies brought up the first three american releases this past weekend, and I gotta say- it kicks ass! I've been watching japanese animation for years and I am hooked on these

the american one is the worse of em all. A friend of mine bought both dvd versions (original japanese and the tokyopop's american version) and they changed all the sounds and music and the voice just dont match with the caracter ... at least, they dont when you've watched the japanese ones.

But initial D is so different from most of the usual japanese animations. Aint about violence, no blood, it's not porn and it's not the annoying (sorry, i dont like it) dragon ballz or pokemon crap =) I like the ones with violence like ninja scroll and ghost in the shell (classics), burn up ... ones like that, but this one is great too.

I have all the episodes on my PC. Let me know if you want them ... i'll put them up somewhere

That would be sweet- I didn't even know about this series really until this weekend- do you really have all 30? I agree on the older stuff, I love ninja scroll and ghost in the shell.

lol it kinda is ... basically, this kid started delivering tofu for his dad when he was 13, and had to do it very early in the morning. So, he tried to drive as fast as possible to get back home quick to go back to sleep. So at 18 (legal drive age in japan) he already had ~5 years of mountrain driving experience. He learned how to drift by going through the same road every single day.

so he owns everybody, beats an R32 with his little trueno, an EVOIII and IV, FD / FC ... even though some parts of the show dont really make sense (in a way) most of what they talk about like techniques and stuff like that is 100 times more accurate than any other movie about cars i've seen.

Kinda like computer movies ... i know people who loved Swordfish, but its total bulls***. Even most of the stuff in Hackers doesn't make sense, but people liked it too. I'm no mechanic, i just started learning about tuning, but Initial D looks 100 times better and alot more real than Fast and Furious and other movies like that. I really think it's worth watching

1st Stage has 26 episodes, 2nd stage has 13, there is also the Extra Stage, which is kind of a parallel story going on during 2nd stage with some other caracters and there's also a movie.

I just started to download them from home onto a computer here at work. I'll post a link in here as soon as they're ready. You might have to wait until tomorrow morning =\ I'll copy them to my laptop and bring them here.

yea the arcade game is pretty tight. They came out with Inital D and Initial D II, which carries more cars. The drifting in the game is a little realistic, but they have a lot of neat cars in the game that drift real well (ie RX-7, Trueno). Over there they have the arcade game in places like Nickel Nickel and Edwards Cinemas.

hehe i know what the story is, i was just being silly :D

heck i have all 3 stages plus the extra stage (the sil-eighty girls extra)

No huge rush on posting them, I am about to fly out to Boise and won't be back until Friday night anyway. Definitely appreciated, I can't wait to see them- I assume they are subtitled?

yes they are english subtitles ... the only problems is, since those are tv rips and made from different sources, what sucks is sometimes the subtittles look bad. some episodes are in chinese instead of japanese too =\

i havent had time to rip the episodes from the dvd. i might try to get that done within a week or two if i have time

I love the original so much I am wary about trying out the American versions, but maybe I'll rent one at some point. I can keep an open mind about so much being changed especially since I've been well-warned!!).

But let me ask this, and my apologies if someone just mentioned it 3 posts above mine, but I was looking at the back of the American version DVD and I swear it says the original Japanese version is on there too! Can anyone confirm this? Are they complete? If so, I might be a lot more interested.

Ok, here's the info to download the episodes

ftp: positron.homelinux.com (199.84.137.202)
port: 8420
user/pass: initiald/mazda

I'm not done uploading the movie and extra stage. but all the Stage1 and Stage2 episodes are there. Enjoy

let me know if there are any problems
