Just got a new ms3 and I'm trying to get a good air intake for it. I found a lot of intakes on line, some of them even claim that they can give you an extra 25hp which is really hard to believe. Any suggestions?(help)(help)

for this car it definetly does add that much, and you will see why when you take the stock air box out. i have an aem cold air intake. it did add a good 15 to 20 whp. i havent really heard anything bad about any other cai. i guess it just comes down to which name you want on your intake.

Save your money and buy a SRI (short ram intake) instead.

- Same gains as CAI on this car.
- Easier install/ uninstall
- Easier maintenance
- Less risk of hydro lock
- Cheaper

It’s a no brainier. Cobb or CPE

ive never really heard of anyone getting hydro lock from their cai. its pretty well pretected. i dont really like the sri just because it is sucking in hot air from the engine.

I've hydro locked with the MS CAI and I know other people that have as well, its a reality.

When the car is moving intake temps go down dramatically and are within 2-4 degrees from real ambient temps. Those 2-4 degree cooler temps you might get with a CAI amount to absolutely dick when it comes down to it. This air is going thru a turbo (HOT as hell) and then passing thru an intercooler to cool it down. Like I said, save your money and the headache and buy an SRI.

no offfense but it doesnt seem like u have been around long enough to know if people havent gotten it... There isnt a big risk in getting hydro lock but if DEF is possible... So just get the cobb SRI

i have to admit that i havent but from what ive read up on ive never really read of anyone hydro locking there car. ive only ever seen that from people washing there engines and not covering there filters.

Thanks guys!(burnout)
I think I'm gonna get a COBB SRI with a COBB Turbo Intel Hose.

You won’t be disappointed and you’ll appreciate all the other added benefits (as outlined) that go along with it. It only takes about 10min to change back to stock if you need a warranty repair and you don't need to jack up your car and take off the front tire to clean the filter.

I like SRI's on turbos because they heat the air going into the engine anyways (uhm)

Good question. Couldn't find anything on intakes myself. Subbing.

LOL. Super LOL. I think the "search" function and the "sticky" on intakes must both be broken! Maybe OP might see if they are fixed now?

For what it is worth I really like my MSCAI gen 2 with air straightener. There will be dozens of opinions here supporting other intakes.

One thing is clear that we can all agree on: Any good aftermarket intake, whether CAI or SRI will be vastly superior to the stock air box.
